As part of the LIMPOPO TRANS-FRONTIER Project, the northern and central areas of the beautiful Kruger National Park have now been extended into Mozambique to include the Parque Nacional Do Limpopo. Although this new edition is in its early stages of development, the new park offers beautiful scenery and animal life.
Dating back to the 15th century Arab traders traded with the locals of INHAMBANE. Vasco da Gama in turn landed there for fresh water supplies in 1498 and Portuguese trading posts were established. Vasco dubbed the local area "Terra de Boa Gente" (Land of the gentle people). The area offers the tourist much to see and experience and is located on the Barra Reef, which is bounded by the pristine, warm Indian Ocean on the one side and a bay with beautiful, unique saltwater mangrove swamps on the other. In addition to the long unspoilt beaches, there are 14 fascinating coral reefs which can be visited.
