Bands you'll probably, definitely, maybe like!

Everyone has their own taste in music, whether rock, alternative, country, rap, ska, or just hating music(gasp. I know.). Nobody likes the exact same music. One person may dislike a friend's favorite artist, but like a single song from that artist, having been introduced to it by that friend. I know a lot of people who learn about new artists and songs from their friends, and that includes me. If you're interested in hearing about a few new (in your eyes) artists, or perhaps finding fellow fans, read on!

Our Feature Presentation: The Bands

On to the list of bands. As you read, try to remember that being a fan of all of these bands, my writing might have a little bias to it. Just give them all a chance if you are really interested!
So, after having proven that you have an attention span longer than that of a rabid squirrel on crack by reading this far down the page, I congratulate you, and offer you the prize: the list of 25 bands I've been promising you for so long (the past minute or so). And, without further ado, in no particular order of preference..... the list!

1. Boys Like Girls - One of the most amazing bands. They were one of the first bands I really, really liked, and helped me join the world of music-obsessed fans.

2. The Cab - I have a couple songs from their album Whisper War, and their songs are quite enjoyable (especially One Of THOSE Nights, I highly recommend it if you want to check them out). I haven't heard all of their songs, but my opinion right now is that they definitely deserve a spot in my favorite bands!

3. All Time Low - Ah... Where to start with them...? They have fantastic songs, and one of my All Time Favorites (haha that was funny! not) is Vegas. The way frontman Alex Gaskarth sings is crazy good. Plus, some of the melodies are addicting, like in Holly (Would You Turn Me On?)! Pretty much why I like them so much.

4. Mayday Parade - They are an insanely good band! Derek Sanders sings with such feeling in his voice. A prime example is in the acoustic version of the song Three Cheers for Five Years. Add in the piano undercurrents to his voice, and it's a sadly beautiful song.

5. The All-American Rejects - Yes. The rejects of all of America. Hahahaha. All puns and jokes aside, they are really an amazing band. The songs, especially Gives You Hell, are like a musical drug, except without side effects (except for perhaps becoming a rabid fan).

6. We The Kings - Perhaps my first or second favorite band! The vocal AND instrumental hooks are like no other band I know of. In the song Skyway Avenue, the chorus is very much addicting. And Secret Valentine never gets old. I've heard from fans that listen to it pretty much 24/7. The radio remix version or whatever (the one with the piano intro) will get you hooked on it the very first time. And Check Yes Juliet, the stereotypical teenage romance song, about a boy and girl running away. However much you might disapprove of the overall theme, give it a chance! You just might be converted to a fan.

7. Yellowcard - A great band. One cool fact: One of Yellowcard's main instruments is the violin! Not many bands include violins with the electric guitars, bass, and drums, and this makes them almost singularly unique. The melodies of the violin are a great addition to the already great songs. The song (as well as the album it is in of the same name) Ocean Avenue will make you want to listen to it over and over again. Singer Ryan Key has a great voice, and sings with just as much feeling as Derek Sanders of Mayday Parade.

8. Rise Against - A really special band. A lot of their songs, as far as I know, deal with true to life issues, and they express themselves very articulately in musical form. Many fans like them just because of their music, and many others like them because of the way their songs are about issues and problems in the world, and the very deep lyrics in quite a few songs (Audience of One, I think it is, springs to mind).

9. The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Full of emotions. Their songs also differ a lot. Take the song Damn Regret, for example. It has a pretty fast beat and much different melodies when compared to, say, Your Guardian Angel. Your Guardian Angel is a moving song, with the theme of a pledge of love, in my opinion. They are just a great band, all around!

10. Cobra Starship - Addicting beats, sometimes funny lyrics, there's not much to dislike about them. Their lyrics and melodies will get stuck in your head so often, you'll think you listened to them 8,766/365! Their music is very enjoyable, and often a heck of a lot of fun to dance to, whether or alone with friends!

11. There For Tomorrow - They have an excellent singer! Plus their entrancing guitar melodies and underlying drums just accent the singing and make the music greater overall. I seriously recommend giving this band a chance and trying out their music.

12. Plain White T's - Now, what to say first? There's quite a few good things about this band, like the singer for example (I seem to like singers a lot..). Not to mention some of their songs are really good, like 1 2 3 4, which was a great love song, I think.

13. My Chemical Romance - First of all, just let me point out, for all you scared people, My Chemical Romance is NOT a suicide 'cult'. They save lives, and the lead singer Gerard Way has even said they want to save lives and that suicide is not the way out. But moving on. Their music is very inspiring, like Famous Last Words, in which he proclaims he is 'not afraid to keep on living'. Some of the other songs aren't as inspiring, but are just as good, like The Sharpest Lives.

14. Three Days Grace - A very good band. Pretty powerful lyrics. In their song Animal I Have Become, the heavy bass intro is powerful too. It'd make you just want to headbang along or something. In the song Riot, the chorus line of 'Let's start a riot, a riot' is also moving.

15. Hollywood Undead - For those reading this that don't like mature content, I strongly do not recommend Hollywood Undead. Many of their songs include/are about drugs, sex, and alcohol (but I like 'em anyway). But if you're interested, take a look at the song City or the song Young by them. Great melodies. If you feel like having a little laugh, check out Everywhere I Go by Hollywood Undead. They will definitely get stuck in your head!

16. Handshakes and Highfives - A great band with great music that has a little screamo mixed in. I guess you could call them something like alternative/screamo. They have really good songs and great vocals. The harmonies underline the vocals and make the songs even better. Try out the song Untitled by them. It may be a little hard to find it somewhere but it's definitely worth it. The song is excellent!

17. The Fray - The Fray is a great band with moving, deep lyrics. Like their song How To Save A Life; it has a touching theme to it, and beautiful piano melodies. They are definitely worth checking out.

18. 3OH!3 - An interesting band. I'm not much one for hip hop in general (I classify 3OH!3 as hip hop anyway... I'm sure more than a few disagree. Hell, check out the poll below ;] ) but they are really good. A few of their songs I like the most are:
-The ever popular Don't Trust Me
-Starstrukk
-and Colorado Sunrise!

19. Basshunter - Okay, I guess just one guy named Jonas Altberg (fun fact for ya) doesn't really constitute a band, but whatever. Fantastic beats and vocals! Personally, I like the Swedish versions of his songs more, but that's just me. Basshunter rocks, and he's topped the charts with Now You're Gone (which, by the way, is the English version of Boten Anna, another good song). A few songs to check out by him are Boten Anna, DotA, and In Her Eyes. All great techno!

20. VOiD808 - A great rising band from Orange County, California, I think. The singer is very good, and their songs overall just plain rock! I'd say it's very well worth your time to head over to their Myspace and check out some of their music.

Several good songs by them are Spirit of Downtown, Whispers In The Dark, and Midnight Drive especially!

21. Hit The Lights - Amazing pop punk band. If you like We The Kings, All Time Low, and all them, you'll definitely like Hit The Lights! I haven't heard a lot of their songs, but from what I have heard, they are among one of my favorite bands!

22. The Lonely Island - Haha, if you haven't already heard of some of their Saturday Night Live skits (Dick In A Box, Jizz In My Pants, etc), and you have a slightly perverted sense of humor, then you'll appreciate this band. The video for Jizz In My Pants on Youtube is absolutely hilarious! Plus it's just a catchy tune ;)

23. Yiruma - He isn't exactly a band, nor does his music really fit in with the genres of the bands I have above, but if you're into classical, or good piano tunes, then check out Yiruma. Amazing skill at piano, and insanely emotional tunes. River Flows In You, for one. It's a really popular one (I can see why; I love that song) which has many covers on Youtube, some better than Yiruma himself (in my opinion). But his piano music is great!

24. The Maine - They have great vocals and just plain awesome songs overall. Plus one of their songs I have is almost as funny as Jizz In My Pants! It's called Santa Stole My Girlfriend (wouldn't that suck!?)! The chorus is pretty funny! But beyond just that amusing song, the rest of their songs are just as good, if not better! Take, in my opinion, for example, You Left Me. It has mixes of techno or electronica or something in it, and that just enhances the song. They are amazing!

25. Attack Attack! - Take big mixing bowl. Throw in some metal, and some screaming. Take a big handful of techno and electronica, and dump it all in. Dash in great vocals. Stir well. And you have Attack Attack! Metal and techno is kind of a weird mix, but this band is great!

And that's the end of it! Sad, I know, but there it is. Hope you enjoyed this and maybe found some new music that you like! =] Cheers!
