2.5mm Earbuds

Many cell phones and a handful of other mobile devices use 2.5mm earbuds. If you have 3.5mm headphones, they won't work with devices that have a 2.5mm jack. You must use 2.5mm earbuds or purchase an adapter so that your 3.5mm headphones will work. There are also adapters to go the other direction. If you have a device with a 3.5mm jack and want to use your cell phone's 2.5mm earbuds, there are adapters that can allow this to happen as well.

The advantage of many of the 2.5mm earbuds is that they give users handsfree control of their phone. They have a single button that allows users to answer their calls, and in some cases to activate voice dialing. Clearly this is most useful when driving.

The important things to consider when purchasing 2.5mm earbuds are compatibility, fit/comfort, and sound quality. The earbuds offered here will indicate which cell phones are compatible. Soft gel and rubberized earbuds tend to offer more comfort. Of course for some people, an earbud that doesn't enter the canal may be preferred. 2.5mm earbuds don't generally have sound quality that is equivalent to that offered by 3.5mm headphones when listening to music, but for the purposes of call quality, a pair that offers an in-line mic or some type of filter to help reduce background noise can make your calls easier to hear.
