1.) Family

We can't choose them, but what would we do without them?

They know our story, they share our secrets, they know we cheat at monopoly - and they love us anyway.

They care when we have an upset stomach, that our boss yelled at us or that we cut our finger opening the mail. Again.

Being in a family can be tough - and some people have it real tough.
But whether your family is you, your 27 cousins, 16 aunts and uncles and godparents, or whether its just you and your dog - a family is a family.
And its a blessing.

Love family.

2.) Fur, Fin and Feather Family

(Pets make you whole)

Love your pets!
Don't have one? Get one!

We love, love, love ours - we don't even call her a pet, we call her our furry sister :)
Plus we have chooks (four),
a multitude of Tropical FIsh and whatever
Native Animal rescue we have in our care at the moment.

Good Reasons to get a Pet:

- They LOVE you no matter what!

- People who have Pets are Healthier
(Scientists and other smarties have even proven it! Read here)

3.) Laughing

Its good for you, makes you more attractive and just feels great!

I remember waaay back in High School when I had my braces removed a girl came up to me and said: "You know, you laugh a lot more now you have your braces off. Its really nice"

What a lovely thing for someone to say!
But mainly - what a stupid thing for me to do - I had let my pride (or ego, whatever) prevent me from enjoying life to the full.

Who cares if you snort when you laugh or whether you sound like a hiccuping spider monkey - don't let anything stop you laughing!

Find something that makes you laugh, try to laugh everyday (at least!)
and learn to love laughing again.

Here's a few things to get you started:
20 TRUE Ridiculous Complaints from Holiday Makers
eg The beach was too sandy... We bought Ray Bans for $5- only to find out they were fake...

Gizmos First Bark - Cute + Funny
I found this on YouTube a while ago and it reminded us of ours when she had her first bark. I love the bit where he tries to surprise "the other dog" in the mirror by walking away then whipping around really fast. Its cute, clean and funny.

4.) Being a Big Kid

Play on the swings when no one is around.
Build a sandcastle.
Spin around until you get dizzy.
Don't eat the crusts on your sandwich.
Eat dessert first.
Play dress ups.
Make a bowl of icing and eating it. (No cake required)
Sing into your hairbrush in the mirror.

Love being a Big Kid
It doesn't have to be every day - but do it occasionally,
it'll help you lighten up!

5.) Latin Dancing

Rumba, Salsa, Tango ... ooh la la!
and don't even get me started on the Flamenco...

Its saucy, sexy and we love it!

6.) Hot Showers after being rained on

There is nothing better

Honestly - how good is it?

There is nothing better than a lovely hot shower -
especially after getting soaked to the bone in a
icy cold, heavy downpour.

Especially if you share it with someone. ;)

Love Cold Rain and Hot Showers!

7.) The Renaissance Era

(14th - 17th Century)

When men were gentle, witty and kind,
spouted poetry at the drop of a hat,
swept you off your feet, planted you a garden,
and declared their undying passion to you
all with the grasp of an extremely meaningful handshake.

When Titian made Titian Red popular, when Botticelli
painted gorgeous (semi naked) woman the shape they
were meant to be, when "Truth" and "Beauty"
weren't concepts but a way of life.

Love The Renaissance Era!

Before Deodorant, or Penicillin...
In the age of Machiavelli...
When their were witch-hunts...

Actually, never mind.

10.) Lazy Days

- Get in your track pants,
- Take the phone off the hook,
- Pull the doona off your bed,
- Curl up on the couch
and stuff your face with chocolate
(or your sinful food of choice)
whilst either:
a) Watching a boxset of your favourite TV show
or
b) Reading a fabulous novel.

Don't sms anyone, don't turn on your computer and Do NOT Twitter anyone to let them know what you are doing!

Just dag out and enjoy it. Love it!

RULES:
1) - No makeup allowed (unless you are ordering in pizza, in which case, mascara only and bonus points for being extra lazy)
2) - Hair must be either in a messy ponytail or not touched since waking up
3) - If you get food on your clothes/couch- laugh, then smear it in some more

This is best done on a cold wet day.

11.) Nature Documentaries

12.) Yourself!

Love yourself sick

13.) Cute websites that exist just for the heck of it

You know the ones - you come across them purely by accident
and spend the rest of the afternoon wasting away the day on them!

Here are some of my Faves...

My Milk Toof
A very, very cute photo blog following the adventures
of two milk teeth - Ickle and Lardee.

Virtual Bubblewrap
Yup. You can now pop bubblewrap online , with sound effects and everything! Why is the delicious pop as you squeeze the life out of a plastic bubble so satisfying?

14.) Good Clean Fun

15.) Bad Presents

On one of my Birthdays we had a sweet
little family gathering where they presented
me with a lovely big Strawberry Mud Cake.

Mmm, Whats bad about that?
Well, I am allergic to strawberries.
Very allergic as it turns out.

But if I can look back and laugh (see #3) so can you!

Love your Bad Presents!

What is a Bad Gift but a fantastic opportunity
for a rip snorting laugh anyway?

Lingerie 3 sizes too small? Haha!
Socks? Again? Hahaha!

And imagine the mirth you'll encounter when you
rewrap it and give it back to them next year! Hahahaha. Ha.

16.) Chocolate

17.) Funny words people use instead of Swearing

Everyone seems to have their own personal version
of "G-Rated" swears.

They often migrate and mutate over time too!

I, for example, often find myself spouting
"Schnauser", "Feg" and "F...aaar out" ..

Yours?

18.)

19.) Cheesy Movie / TV Quotes

Are you not entertained?

Love quoting movies.
Who doesn't love that moment shared when you quote a movie line during a conversation, one person gets the joke, catches your eye and you share a secret smile.

(Or if you do it frequently, everyone gets the (very bad) joke, groans and makes you go buy the next round of drinks)

For the Die Hards...

Go ahead. Make my day. --Sudden Impact
I'll be back. --The Terminator
And so the lion fell in love with the lamb. --Twilight
You played it for her, you can play it for me! --Casablanca
Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn. --Gone with the Wind

Personal Favourites...

Do you bite your thumb at us, Sir? -- Romeo + Juliet
I'm not bad; I'm just drawn that way -- Who framed Roger Rabbit?
Looks like we've got ourselves a cowboy. --Boondock Saints
Anne, I'm Sooorrry. --Anne of Green Gables
Ex-squeeze me? Baking Powder? --Waynes World
Either thou, or I, or both, must go with him! -- Romeo + Juliet

Phew. I think I've got that out of my system. For now.

20.) Personal Quirks

Can you only eat your sandwich if it is cut into triangles (not squares)? Do you put on your shoes and socks before any other clothing?

I absolutely MUST have a glass of milk after I eat chocolate. (Needless to say, I go through a heck of a lot of milk) I can't sleep if there is anything remotely pointy left out in the house. (Like an unwashed butter knife in the sink)

We all have something a little...quirky...
about ourselves. Don't be afraid to love it!

Embrace your inner freak!
Go on!

24.) Native Wildlife

Love the Natives!

Whether you live in Australia (like us),
Brazil, Norway or Antarctica you have gorgeous
native animals that are uniquely your own.

Why not find out more about the special animals of your country?

Image: Australian Nightjar Owlet - Juvenile
The smallest of the Australian Owls, this little fella was 12cm (approx 5") high. Although a common species, they are rarely seen as they are shy, so small and nocturnal. We had this one in care for a week before he was released back to his home.
