Hi, I'm David Sobotta!

I'm an author-photographer who lives near Swansboro, NC. The area is know locally as the Southern Outer Banks. Many residents consider me an evangelist for the area because of all the articles that I have written about the area.

My goal with this page is to share a few personal thoughts on living and working in Cape Carteret, Cedar Point, Emerald Isle, and Swansboro, NC areas, and to give you a place to sound off on your favorite places around town, too. I also take lots of photos of the area.

I'd love to hear from you.

Sound off: The Fishing Pole

Here's what I think: The winter of 2011-2012 seems warmer than last year, but we warmed up quickly. I'll bet we warm up slowly this year.

When will the water be warm enough for good fishing?

David says:

Well it has been too cold this winter, but we are gradually warming up. Our recent fishing trip in early Feb. was fun,but we caught no fish.

ocracokewaves says:

Based on past experience, I am betting that the real fishing won't start until May. There will be some fish caught before then, but the water has to be fairly warm for there to be some spring success.
