Other Charitable Work
2nd Chance Books donated fifty gift cards, each one has a value of $25, good for any book with free shipping at this community meeting for a 9/11/ support group.
Though we were a thousand miles from New York and Washington D.C., the 9/11 attacks hit us in the Kansas City area, filling our hearts with sorrow and fear. Yet, we endured. We flew our flags, joined together in prayer, and sent loved ones to Afghanistan and Iraq. We placed yellow ribbons on our cars with bumper stickers slogans such as "We Will Never Forget."
September 11, 2005 was a time for us to be true to our word.
We gathered for an inspiring service to remember the sad American tragedy and rightfully honor our local and national heroes who continually work to prevent another day like 9/11.
Our special guests included Chris Koster, State Senator from Missouri's 31st District, and Brian Baker, State Representative from Missouri's 123rd District.
The hour-long service included patriotic music, a slide show, a color guard presentation, brief messages from our congressmen, and more.
The community was encouraged to attend and invite community leaders, fire fighters, police officers, military servicemen and women, as they will be honored during the service.
