Choosing a 3 Hole Punch

type=textChoosing a three hole punch is a fairly easy task, but there are a few things you should consider:

1. Manual vs. Electric
A manual 3 hole punch will be less expensive than an electric model. They will generally be long lasting, assuming that you select one with a sturdy build. Manual devices will require a bit more effort to make the holes than an electric model. Electric models on the other hand are both quick and easy. Of course they tend to have a shorter lifespan however.

2. Capacity
Some punches are best suited to light duty use. They may staple 12 sheets of paper or less at one time. Others are for heavy duty use. Some of these punches can handle up to 150 pages/punch.

3. Durability
A manual 3 hole punch with steel construction will be more durable than a plastic model. A plastic chip tray shouldn't deter from a long life however.

4. Ease of Use
A manual punch often operates more easily with a lever. Clearly, the more paper put into the punch at any given time will influence the ease of punching through. If someone has significant motor difficulties, then an electric model may be advisable.

Having a paper guide can also make use much easier as it assure that holes get placed where you want them. Top loading punches are easier for some people to operate and they can occupy less desk space as well.

5. Flexibility
Some 3 whole punches allow users to add or subtract punch heads. They may act as a two hole, three hole, or even up to a seven hole punch by adding punch heads.

Some punches also allow you to adjust hole placement. Obviously, adjustable hole placement and paper guides allow users to do more types of jobs but this is useful only if other types of hole punching jobs will be needed. A fixed hole placement and paper guide can assure no slipping. Which is best, depends upon the types of jobs you'll need the punch to do.

Well done. This lens reminds me of a Canadian comedy show, that has a segment called "Talking To Americans." Rick Mercer would go to some place and say stupid things about Canada and they would believe it. One of them was to say "Congratulation Canada on getting staplers." Thanks for reminding me.Thanks for the lens. I know it's not about staplers.

Ah unfortunately the facts and real life are about as funny as it gets. Americans ARE nortoriously ill informed about the rest of the world. And, please never ask us a geography question.
