What is a Corporate Logo Design?

Corporate logo designs have to exhibit quality, maturity and professionalism all at once. Everything has to be spot on and there is absolutely no room for error. Furthermore, the clients are also very strict with their requirements and are keen on receiving a quality draft within the allotted time period. This makes creating corporate logo designs a highly challenging prospect for logo designers.

Today we will go over three mistakes that new logo designers make when creating corporate logo designs. This useful information will be very helpful to them for their future design projects.

"The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak."

1. Adding Too Many Colors

Never go overboard with colors. It makes them unattractive. Companies are not too keen on using more than one color or two at the most. This decision is largely based on the type of industry there are in and the target audience they want to focus on. In any event, pay close attention to the logo design contest brief and determine which colors (if any) the client is comfortable with before designing anything.

"The business schools reward difficult complex behavior more than simple behavior, but simple behavior is more effective." ~Warren Buffett

2. Using Too Many Fonts

The general rule of thumb is to stick with one or two font types at the most when creating a corporate logo design. This is particularly true with corporate business cards. Corporate Logos demand uniformity. Using multiple fonts can give the logos a weird look and therefore should be avoided.

"Simplicity and repose are the qualities that measure the true value of any work of art."

3. Unrelated Images

Creativity is the spice of graphic design just as variety is the spice of life. However if viewers can't understand it then it is worth nothing. As a logo designer, it is your job to make sure that the graphical objects and designs you create can get the message across to the target audience. Implementing unrelated or hard to relate imagery in corporate logo designs can and will backfire on the client.

“Anything simple always interests me.”

Got It ;)

These mistakes must be avoided at all cost if you want to succeed as a logo designer. Clients tend to have high expectations when it comes to a corporate logo as they will be running a professional business and need their clients to take them seriously. Don't expect your clients to take you seriously if you can't take create a professional looking logo for them.
