Stuttering Activities Part 1

Stuttering Activities #1 (5 Mins)

Get a book or magazine and read out loud for one minute (yes time yourself) as slowly as necessary so that you don't start stuttering . Focus on talking fluently, and continuing to move onward. At the end of the minute see how far you've gone.

Try this over again Four extra times for a total of Five minutes. Every time reading as slowly and gradually as necessary to talk clearly, and observing how far you've gotten each and every time. Your goals should be to read further each time, or read the same amount in a clearer fashion.

Stuttering Activities Part 2

Stuttering Activities #2 (5 Mins)

Again get hold of your selected book or magazine and while reading out loud - attempt to stutter. That's right, literally allow your self to stutter. Do this for 2 1/2 minutes. Now read from the book or magazine out loud again while focusing on speaking clearly and find out how far you can read in a minute without stuttering.

You may amaze yourself at your lack of stuttering right after attempting to stutter for 2 1/2 minutes.

Stuttering Activities Part 3

Stuttering Activities #3 (5 Mins)

At this point for 2 1/2 minutes read out loud again from the book or magazine, but use something to "keep time" with. Tap a pencil on the counter, utilize a metronome for those who have one, tap your foot, whichever - the point here is to maintain a steady beat.

Speak while keeping the beat, and see how far you will get. Then in the last 2 1/2 minutes read without the beat and see if you can "beat" your previous effort.

Continue to Practice

Practice these stuttering activities consistently and with dedication you will realize notable changes in your speech.
