Mitsubishi 3000gt - Japanese Supercar

My first and only 3000gt so far - this '93 3000gt SL, with 167k miles, painted dark green with a beige interior is part of our family. Just like the rest, she still needs a whole interior cosmetic update because the leather has worn away, and now an alternator replacement, but not to worry because those are next on the list! We've spent the past 6 years replacing the abused parts from the previous owner who mustn't have loved her so dearly...such as the clutch, transmission, exhaust, brakes, axles, wheel bearings, lower and upper ball joints, calipers, and so forth.

It all started when I was 11 years old. While waiting for the bus to school, I'd watch a breathtaking dark green 3000gt zoom around the corner at the same time every morning, and my heart would drop a little. I got in the habit of waiting for my 3000 more than my bus each day, and would be disappointed if I missed it. So, ironically, I found my '93 dark green 3000gt when we desperately needed a vehicle and haven't looked back since.

We've had many memorable experiences with our 3000gt, including camping in Cape Cod, MA as shown in this picture. Driving this car made all of our vacations far more thrilling - it loves the beach, long stretches of highway, and eats up the snow while leaving the SUVs to slide around on the ice. (Yes, I know..we had to drive it in the Winter. No choice in NH!) It fits one car seat quite nicely, so this was our main mode of transportation with our first child, however it does not accommodate 2 children in the least.

The worst experience was when the clutch blew in South Carolina, leaving us stranded with multiple tornadoes rotating around us and touching on either sides of the highway. Luckily, a very gracious cop had waited it out with us for almost 3 hours until we could get a tow and we did not get sucked up and/or thrown down into Kansas. I have great plans for this car, and many others like it. Be warned! Once you own one, you can't go back...
