32 Website Header Designs For Inspiration

When designing a new website, sometimes I run out of ideas and need inspiration. I start surfing the websites, collecting ideas, writing them down and sketching the layouts. I desided to start a web design ideas blog where I can keep these ideas organized. It is working pretty well for me.

One of the most important parts of the website will be the header. This is what the visitor will see first, this will need to be appealing to the eye while functional to let the visitor find the navigation easily.

Here I put together examples of website headers from various websites that hopefully will spark an idea for your next design. So let's get to it.

1. Basmati Tree

Simple Flash header with unique navigation.

2. Outlaw Design Blog

The use of the black leather background looks really good on this header.

3. Bern Unlimited

Somehow, this roughly torn corrugated paper header mixed in with the other elements, just looks great.

4. Komodo Media

Cartoony & wood design on this one.

5. Gianmarco Lauriola

Artistic modern header design.

6. Urbane Blinds

Nice clean blue design, love the faint pattern in the background.

7. Bits&Pix

Crisp, clean little design in green tone. Looks pretty nice.

A unique illustrated header in 3D look.

9. Holdsworth Design

This is one of my favorite headers. The buttons at the top have a very cool and unique hover effect.

10. Marius Roosendaal

Feels like you're in a marble room with a skylight or a window opening to a beautiful blue sky. Very nice.

11. Mosaiko

This is a nice 3D header. Looks like the logo and the bananas are laying on a shelf.

12. Rusty Bones

Awesome leather header. Love the dry vine touch on the sides.

Floral header design.

14. Grace's Personal Page

Artistic header with some geometric shapes for buttons. I also like the background.

Abstract collage header.

16. Maciej Kwas

Really nicely designed artistic collage header.

17. Dr. Martian

Cartoony, cool, clean header design.

18. Jonathan Sace

Colorful, clean and crisp.

19. DentFore

Light blue lines and background. I also like the little elephant :)

20. Hoover Dust

Modern, abstract, artsy.

21. Viget Inspire

Watercolor mountains scene with the logo peeking out behind it.

22. Monitor

This one's cool, electric fence header. I like the naviagtion bar.

23. The Piss Biscuit

LOL!!! Nice site name. I like the header, well the whole layout is cool.

24. POP Syndicate

Colorful bubbles, blues. Like this one.

25. InterAnaliz

Deep reds with a nice sun rays shining out from the logo.

26. Ocaklar Halicilik

Another deep red design. This one is very simple with a horizontal dividing line that the logo and the navigation aligns to.

27. Mansz & Partners

Shades of blue, lines, centered layout. Good header design.

28. Sessions by Collective Idea

Simple browns. Nice background with a lighting effect.

29. The Things We Make

Nice dark design with colorful text. Clever use of a wood fence texture.

30. Uberbot

Cool, weird, modern...aqua?

31. GoMediaZine

I like this one. Nice grays, blacks and whites with a touch of yellow. Also good background texture.

32. Jayme Blackmon

Another header with a nice wood fence background. I like the Hire Me button and the header photo. The guy's backpack sticking outside the banner is a cool addition.
