Want to get 360 waves in your hair?

360 Waves, also known just as "waves" "360's" or "spinnas" are a African American hair pattern worn by mostly men. The spinning effect is from the hair waves.

What Type of Hair is Needed?

The texture of your hair does not matter. But it will take a different amount of time for the waves to start coming in. People that have easier to manage hair will get waves easier in most cases. No two wavers are alike. Some end up with longer spaced out waves, some closer waves, but most generally get somewhere in between.

Who wears 360 Waves?

A lot of African American rappers, and athletes sport waves. The most famous wavers include Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs and the rapper Fabolous .  Famous ballers with 360 hair waves include Lebron James and Reggie Bush.

Waves just to be a popular hair style in the 1980's. Most men prefer to wear the 360 hair waves because it stands out, looks good, and is easy to manage.

Well here's some basic tips.

The first step is getting a fresh cut if needed. It is no possible to get waves with long hair like, braids, cornrows, dreadlocks, etc. You can also start a new wave pattern off a fresh haircut.

Next, go to your local Walgreen's store and pickup a couple of supplies. Here's what you should get at the very least.

A "Du rag", stocking cap, or another type of scarf- to stop you from destroying your pattern up when you go to sleep. Don't let all that work go to waste.

Medium or soft style hair brush- this is used to brush the 360 waves pattern in. Don't scalp yourself with a coarse brush.

Some hair lotion/moisturizer- this is used to keep your scalp and hair clean and healthy. Also used in some advanced waving methods to help lay the hair down in the 360 wave pattern.

After you get your supplies, wash your hair clean of any dirt, and begin your moisturizing/brushing schedule depending on your hair type. Some will find that their hair may need a lot more moisture or brushing than others. There are guides available on the internet to help you find the best waving combinations for your hair type.

The key in how to get 360 waves in your hair is to stick to your brushing and moisturizing schedule.

What type of brush do you need for waves?

This subject is debated about a lot. But here are the common answers.

1. You can honestly use ANY brush to get waves. Long as it lays your hair down.
2. Depending on your hair type, different brushes may help you.
3. Depending on the length of your hair you may need a different type of brush.

Now here are the brushes you can use.

1. Palm brush aka "wave brush"- the best brush to start with. You can control your strokes better and it is a medium to soft style brush. A must for any beginner or veteran waver.

2. Medium brush- these are your typical brushes. Usually made from badger hair. These brushes last a long time, the only downfall is the amount of dirt they trap in the brush.

3. Double sided brush- has a medium on one side and a softee on the other. Best for wavers who keep their hair a 1.5 or a 1 size guard.

4. Hard brush- This is best when you are growing your hair out (wolfing). If you plan on keeping a 2 size guard cut, this is the best brush for you. If you have a sensitive scalp it may hurt you too much to brush.

Women & Hair Waves

Ladies you can get waves too.

For one, remember that you need curly hair to get waves. If your have straight hair right now you will not get waves. This is a touchy issue because some African American women like to wear straight hair styles.

The next step is to get a cut. For this, go to a good salon in your area. Make sure the cosmetologist you select knows what they are doing and understands you completely. Tell them you want the short wavy cut, like Halle Berry. If your hair is straight they can curl it for you to create the wave effect.

What is the best Pomade?

This is a question with no real answer. There are many different types of pomades all with different holds and grease levels in them. My personal favorite moisturiser is called Carrot Oil it is sold at Dollar General and Walgreens. Some people prefer Carrot Creme but I have personally found that it smells like garbage! Pink lotion works too!

Many "wave greases" have come out and I have tried them all. The Murrays brand is old and well known (red can). I dont like it. It is too thick and doesnt let my scalp breathe! I have liked sporting waves from time to time. It isnt as greasy as Murrays and holds well. I have also tried the wavebuilder brand. I have most of their products to be good but a bit overpriced. LetsJam also holds your waves as well (turquoise can). If I had to pick a favorite wave grease Id probably say Sporting Waves.

Going From Braids to Waves

Are Waves the best hairstyle ever?

Are 360 waves the best hair style ever? I dont know, but it seems that the dark ceasar is definitely in right now. Many athletes and musicians have cut off the long dreads and braids and are waving it up right now.

Guys who sported the braids for years like Allen Iverson, Slim Thug, Ludacris, Trey Songz, R Kelly, and others have all cut it off in favor of the low cut. Even Ludacris made a rhyme about it on his album. "Just cut the braids but the fade and the waves will leave you seasick!" That should show you that waves are the best way to go. It's easy to manage and the ladies love it.

Plus there are many ways you can wear your ceasar. You can get a high temp on the sides like Drake or Trey Songz or you can rock it all even like Diddy. You can put a kit in it and make your waves really soft or you can use Murrays wave cream to make your waves more solid and shiny. There is just so much you can do with the waves.

Think about it. You can look professional at any job with waves and still keep it playa. You would not want your doctor walking in the room with braids and a headband on, but you would probably have a higher opinion of him if he walked in with the waves and a sharp line. This is why you commonly see black men who are business owners, managers, police officers, marines, and teachers rocking the 360 waves heavy. There is just no other way to go. If you want to look fly AND professional, you better keep it waved up, and if you have braids you may want to consider cutting it off.
