365 Days Of Art

Ranked #9,084 in Arts & Design, #157,107 overall

Making Art Everyday For a Year

I have challenged myself to work on my art for 1 hour (or more) a day for 365 days in a row.

I have lost my sketchbook habit that I had years ago, and I know that if I'm going to be able to make the art that is in my head, I need more practice on basic things, and I need to get into the habit of getting my pencil or brush in my hand every single day.

Rule # 1

Art time is 1 hour continuously

Not 20 minutes at a time or anything like that . It's working on drawing or a combination of drawing and painting for an hour.

Rule #2

No Rollovers

If I do more than an hour one day I can't carry it over to the next. It's just bonus time.

Rule #3

Sketching comes first

30 minutes of sketching, every day! After that I can experiment, paint, whatever, but the drawing comes first.

Rule #4

I will document the days

That is assuming I have internet access! I will update what I'm doing here weekly, and daily on my blog, if you want to follow along.

The Best of the Week

Some days are diamonds, Some days are stones

Day 1

Lots of drawing!

And an experiment with a new acrylic medium.

Day 2

thinking about birds

for some reason I'm really focused on birds lately. I did lots of drawings, but I really enjoyed making this crow feather. I can see some things now that I would fix, but over all for a sketch I think it's pretty good.

It's No Fun Venturing Out Alone

Enjoyed this lens. Like you, I am making a greater commitment to daily artistic endeavors. I joined the 365 Grateful project (creating one photograph per day). Really want to get back into my Japanese ink painting. Loved your acrylic experiment photo. Fabulous!

I admire so much artists that take on these kinds of things. I have a mate on Red Bubble that is doing a finished piece every single day for a year. I think he's brilliant.

I wish I had the time! I have tried before to discipline myself but to no avail. Somedays I do and some I don't. Not a very good attitude but it's the best I can do. All the best in your endeavour I will return regularly to see how you are getting on.
