Fun in Soddy Daisy

Soddy Daisy is a growing town with one of it's greatest assets being its location on Soddy Lake.

The lake provides great fishing and great boating. Skiing, boating, fishing, swimming and any other water sport can make summer lots of fun in Soddy Daisy.

If for some reason the lake, with swimming, boating and fishing is not your cup of tea, maybe a hike in the woods or just a picnic along the lake would be fun.

Many evenings you can stroll over to the community ball park and watch the ball practice or catch a game. I personally, love to watch the little kids playing coach pitch or t-ball.

On top of Mowbray Mountain you can also find a Clay shooting business. Many area residents and Chattanoogans come to Montalke Classic Clays for fun. On the way up Mowbray Mountain you can also catch a great view of Soddy Daisy and many miles around from about 1600 feet.

If you are looking for a great place to eat in Soddy Daisy there are too many to name here. You can find the usual fast food establishments, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Sonic, McDonalds, Wendys, Hardees, Pizza Hut etc. But if you want to really have some great food try the local family owned establishments.

Just to name one of the many, "Home Folks Restaurant", here you get a country buffet. Two of the cooks have been with this family restaurant for over 32 years. If you want good food while in Soddy Daisy you have to try this restaurant. There are numerous other family owned and operated restaurants in the area that serve great food, so there is a wide and varied assortment. One of my favorite restaurants is a great Italian restaurant, Flavors of Italy, it has delicious food and great service.

There are always places to shop, from the great antique shops where you can browse all day, to the Wal-Mart and Dollar General. There is a variety of shops in Soddy Daisy to fit almost any shopping fancy you might have.

It is easy to see that although Soddy Daisy is not a large metropolis, it has all the ingredients necessary for a comfortable lifestyle. Due to the location of Soddy Daisy on US 27, there is always great access to more shopping and activities in Chattanooga.

Soddy Daisy History

Soddy-Daisy was originally two separate coal towns, Soddy and Daisy. In 1969, the two independent towns became one, Soddy -Daisy.

This small town has a small bird sanctuary along the lake, and several nice parks for picnics and exercise. There is a state natural area called the North Chickamauga Creek Gorge, it has great hiking trails, with waterfalls and is part of the Cumberland Trail System.

No, never have been to that part of Tennessee, but I've spent time in the far eastern part of the state (on the Appalachian Trail), and my husband and I spent two weeks in Nashville and the surrounding countryside last year. We both just love Tennessee, so I'm sure we'll be back and probably will get to this part of the state sooner than later. I'll have to keep Soddy Daisy in mind when we go.

I haven't been there, but I have been to Chattanooga. This part of the Tennessee / Georgia border around Lookout Mountain is spectacular.

I've never been to Soddy Daisy. The closest I've come to it is Nashville, which I loved. Welcome to All Things Travel.
