3 Camp Host Version
Due to the length of Camp Host Version, I will put Cuneo's and Friends Version at the bottom and the Camp Host Version here at the top.
People loved this campground. They could bring their horses and camp out, like the Old West, spending many hours exploring all those trails. Returning from a long ride to their trailers and tents. A warm shower and a warm meal, with their horses close by. Sitting by the campfire, relaxing in the evening, under the stars. This was the closest thing to heaven for many people.
One late afternoon, a lady and her friend came to our trailer. Very upset, telling us there was "somebody" hiding in the nearby bushes. Sneaking out and stealing their stuff. I strolled up to their campsite, as they continued to go on and on about this person in the bushes.
At the campsite, I asked them where they had their stuff. She told me in an ice cooler, wedged under their truck. I rolled my eyes, imaging what exactly happened.
Scouting the area, a few yards from the campsite, I found down in a little gully, their cooler. All clawed up and broken into pieces.
After seeing this, I asked her if the person she saw darting back and forth, stealing their stuff. Was he about 4 feet high, dark, large and hair? She said, "Oh, Yes!"
I told her I had the good news and the bad news. The good news, I found their cooler, and their was nobody in the bushes. Bad news, all the food had been eaten by the bear!
The nearest store was about 40 miles away, each way to replenish their supplies. So they had a long ride ahead.
Even putting your coolers under heavy things, or in your car or truck, does not guarantee it will be safe! When the bear gets a sniff of those wonderful foods, he can do real damage trying to get them!
As I was talking to this lady about this, another horseback rider came up to tell me someone had stolen her "new boots" She had left them out on the bench to air out the new leather smell, while she went on a ride.
No matter how I tried to explain to her, that the bear more than likely, now had a new chew toy but she insisted that someone, Not the bear, stole her new boots. So much, that she posted a sign by the bathroom, with descriptions of her boots, for the rest of the season.
Some campgrounds have wooden boxes, for storage. If you have to stroe anything in the wood boxes, you might be somewhat safe storing clean, no scented cooking pans. Remember those smelly cleaners are mouth watering to animals.
Some campers thought the items were safe, in a wooden box and/or wedge under the truck or vehicles. They never thought bears would come into the campgrounds durning the day. Those are Myths! So people were really trying to protect their food and treats from other people and NOT the animals!
I have seen the bears come into the campgrounds, all times of day and nights. You can see that from my pictures!
We heard the bears in the trees, just a few feet away from us, late at night and in the early morning. Just crunching away on the fruit.
He tries not to come down when people are out and about, but his stomach pretty much rules him.
He is nosey and wants to see, taste and smell everything that is new. No matter how big it is!
Remember, we are in his area!
Between people leaving everything from toothpaste to dog food out, even grains for the horses. These are always a feast for the animals!
When the Bear keeps coming down into the campgrounds, the Rangers will have to have the bear removed from his/the area! If the bear returns, they will have to shoot it! The Bear will relate the smell of food and your storage containers to being his food!
We found, talking to locals, they used Bear poop to keep Bob Cats away from an area. Just like using Bob Cat urine, will keep mice away. So many people can benefit from Cuneo and his Friends!
One of the rangers recalled, durning one of her camping experiences on the coast.
She told us she was trying to cook breakfast, early in the morning. Using a portable stove and a big heavy frying pan. She had just finished cooking everything. She turned to get the plates to put their breakfast on, when she turned back, and there was a big blue and black bird, right in the middle of the hot pan! Stomping around on their eggs and other delicious foods. Eating some of the breakfast, and throwing some to the side. The whole breakfast "Went To The Brids!"
At the horse campground, a lady went to the bathroom. She returned to find all her English muffins, either picked and thrown around or gone!
She thought she would leave them on the picinic table for just a few moments.
There sat the blue and black bird, stomping around.

3 Told by Cuneo and Friends
Cuneo walked slowly back to the campground from the morning before. Finally seeing the sites with all the road blocks, from the backside of the campground, it looked very calm and welcoming. Maybe he just came in from the wrong direction before.
Cuneo could smell some great scents coming from under one of those big rolling paw things. Darting over to the big rolling paw thing and lying still for a few moments.
The big rolling paw thing, was fast asleep and did not move an inch! But underneath it was a big thing that had wonderful smells coming from it.
Cuneo put his paws between the sleepy rolling paws and pulled on the big shell! It slid out quite easily.
Learning from his past adventures, Cuneo decides to pull it over to a bush, so he could hide while exploring his treasure.
There he pulls and tears at it. Opening it was like cracking an egg. All the wonderful smelling things came rolling out and right into Cuneo's stomach.
After stuffing himself with every crumb, he now needed desert. Glancing at the middle of the area, he could see some of HIS apple and pear trees.
Up he went in the first tree, to hide and eat for the rest of the day.
Boy, this turned out to be a great day for Cuneo. Going from one tree to another. He thought his stomach was going to burst!
Finally, before any of those big rolling paw woke up, or all those strange animals and things came to notice him, Cuneo decided to call it a day and stroll back to his cozy sleeping area.
As he was strolling with a heavy belly, he noticed something. It smelt like an animal, somewhat. He diverted his direction to explore this scent.
Once he reached the strange items, he licked it. It really did not seem to be food, but it tasted great! It was very hard to tear, but chewing it sent waves of satisfaction all through his body.
His mind still had strong recall of all the yelling, loud horns, burning and tearing in his eyes and ears, so without wasting a minute he seized both of the items and headed for the safety of the woods.
This time Cuneo did not go very far into the woods. His thoughts were there were plenty more apples, pears, berries and other thing to fill his stomach, if his stomach started to growl again. They were all right here, close. He did not need to look any further.
So he laid in the brushes, on the rim of the campground and chew on this tasty new things he found.
