3D HDTV Glasses. Here's How They Work!

You can now watch 3D movies & 3D TV
in your home!

A pair of 3D HDTV glasses
are an absolute necessity
for each person watching.

But how do they work? Do you have to wear those old-style 3D glasses with the red and blue lenses, like you've seen people wearing while watching old horror movies in the movie theaters?

Well, those 3D glasses are actually quite useful and are still used in some instances. But what we want to talk about are the new generation of 3D glasses, the 3D glasses you wear to watch 3D HD movies at the movie theater or on your own television at home.

Yes, you can watch 3D movies at home now. Imagine buying your favorite 3D movie and being able to watch it over and over without paying to go to the theater each time.

And how about this: The United States will soon be launching 3D cable stations. Imagine watching football and baseball games in 3D. You'll feel like the action is right in your living room!

We're here to help you understand the technology.

We'll help you know which 3D glasses to buy. Each person watching 3D HDTV will need their own 3D glasses. (That only makes sense, right?)

So, read on!

How Do 3D HDTV Glasses Work?

What in the world are Active Shutter Glasses?

3D HDTV GlassesThe new 3D glasses are called Active Shutter glasses. They are not the cardboard frames with the blue and red plastic lenses. And they're not the same glasses you get when you watch a movie in a theater.

You don't connect Active Shutter 3D glasses to the TV. The glasses react to a transmitter built into your 3D HDTV.

When you put the 3D glasses on and look at the TV screen, the technology first blocks the left and then the right lens, like shutters opening and closing very quickly. It happens faster than the blink of an eye. Your eyes won't notice it, but this "staggered" effect achieves wonderful lifelike 3D images.

You Need To Know This To Watch 3D Movies

What 3D Movies can You Watch at Home With Your 3D Glassses?

Blue-ray 3D
This is what you need to know in order to watch 3D movies at home. The movie must be in the Blu-ray 3D format. Just look for this logo on the DVD box:

And make sure the 3D glasses are compatible with your 3D TV.

That's it!

Here's what Amazon has to say about 3D glasses:

"Also note that a lot of movies currently on the market are labeled 3D but will not give you the exciting 3D effects you are looking for. Most of these movies have been released over the last few years and are currently on DVD or Blu-ray Disc and use a different technology (anaglyph or polarized)--they usually come bundled with glasses. These movies will play fine on any HDTV and Blu-ray or DVD player; however, the 3D effects will not be as impressive as the ones you would get from a movie on a Blu-ray 3D disc."

Each Person Will Need a Pair of 3D HDTV Glasses

Some 3D HDTVs will come with one pair of 3D glasses.

But you'll need a pair for every member of the family,
so that each person can see
the 3D effects.

You'll need to buy these extra 3D HDTV glasses separately.

It's Easier Than You Think To Set Up a 3D HDTV System at Home

Really... you'll only need these 4 or 5 things:

1.  3D HDTV - or a 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor

2.  Player - a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3

3.  3D Glasses - All 3D HDTVs on the market require Active Shutter glasses to create the 3D effect. Each viewer needs their own pair of Active Shutter glasses in order to see the 3D effects. Also make sure that the Active Shutter glasses you buy are compatible with your display. Buy the glasses that are the same brand as your 3D HDTV.

4.  HDMI Cable - To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a hgh-speed HDMI cable with bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second) to carry the 3D signal without any loss of quality.

5.  3D Sync Tranmitter - If you buy a Sony 3D system, you'll also need a 3D sync transmitter. LG's 3D sync transmitter is already built in.

Now get yourself some Blu-ray 3D movies and 3D games and you are set to go!

    Wow! Coe....

    What a packed lens.

You spent a lot of time and detail creating such useful content.

I'm a big fan of active shutter glasses as they provide a clearer picture than passive 3D glasses.

    Here read this...
