What Started My Quest
So about a week or two ago my girlfriend was rubbing my tummy (it makes me purr lol) when she was alarmed to find a small lump. Needless to say it was a little scary but I put off going to the doctor anyway. Well yesterday I went and thank God it was nothing, "a fatty mass" he said. The he looked at me and said "It would probably go away if you lost some weight". Now I don't have a 6 pack or anything but I play sports (football in the summer and hockey in the winter) and consider myself a fit person. But it has become apparent that I have gotten a little soft.
What I'm Going To Do About It
Well the plan, as the title of this site suggests, is run 3k a day everyday (except weekends when I'm generally to hungover ha ha).
Ill keep everyone updated on how it goes... maybe I'll eventually run further, or faster, or maybe I'll lose some weight and I can post my weight loss... we shall see.
Other things I have found really useful are things like counting calories with portable weight loss chart because things like that really help to keep people accountable, which; is one of the easiest things in the world to fall behind on.
If you are looking to read more about weight loss one blog I have been reading is weightbody with tons of great information.
A huge concern with health and weight loss is what fad diets work and what ones don't. Let's face it 99% of diets out there are crap and can't make up for hard work.
One thing that sounds weird but works well for some people apparently is hypnosis. If you want some weight loss tips related to this area there are lots of sites online.
If you want to learn about losing weight in a safe way there are a lot of sites, but I think weight loss models is a great place to start.
Finally one weight loss thing that has worked for me is a low carb weight loss plan. I think carbs are a big deal and something too many people ignore when dieting.

- Just a note...alcohol is full of calories, which can cause you to gain weight. Hence the term beer belly. your drinking is probably counteracted by your running 3k a day...but I'd still be careful and watch it.
Also...congrats on running 3k a day! I can barely run 3 blocks lol

- Just be careful of those knees and ankles. Running isn't always a good idea for middle aged people.

- Running is very important of you want to stay in good shape. You don't necessarily need a treadmill to run - you can go run in the park - all you need is a good pair of running shoes.
