Great Cake

I'm making this page about this great, quick, individual serving of cake, because it's a great recipe. My mom sent me the recipe in an e-mail, and I've since given it to my mother-in-law, and my sister-in-law. It's easy to do, and you don't have to just make it chocolate. You can personalize it anyway you want.

Quick Snack

I make this recipe when I want a quick snack. I've made individual ones for desserts for my family. I just love it. It doesn't take long to do, and I've played around with it and added different ingredients. Every time I make it, it turns out great.

Is it great?

I think it's a great snack. I've made it for myself many times. It doesn't take long, and it's filling too. Little rough on the teeth though.

Personalizations I've Used

I know this sounds crazy, but I don't really like chocolate. I've come up with other ways to make this cake that work for me.

I've used marshmallows instead of chocolate chips, I've left it just plain, so it's like a white cake, and I've used brown sugar instead of cocoa. My most recent substitution was strawberry Kool-Aid mix instead of chocolate. If you use this one though, you need to add a little more sugar. Every time, it came out great, and made the cake taste a little different. This photo shows you what it looks like once you dump it out of the mug. This is when I used brown sugar instead of cocoa.

Instead of using vanilla, I've also used Bailey's Irish Creme, and a liqueur called Amber Creme. That gives it a butterscotch type of flavor. If you use alcohol though, you have to add a little bit more flour. The alcohol counteracts the rising effect of the flour.

    Everyone has to try this! I didn't think it would work, but it totally did! I made mine in a slightly larger container, though, because I was worried about overflow. Still great!

    I love this and have added it to my favorites--it's often difficult to find a dessert for just my husband and I. This is a good one to split (or maybe not...!)!
