Various shapes are: oval, round, marquise, emerald, and those shaped like pears or hearts. However, the most important aspect to consider is the quality of the diamond. To decide if a diamond has the quality you must recognize the 4 C's of a real diamond:
Carat weight
A diamond's weight and size of is calculated in carats. A hundred segments called as "points" composes one carat. For example, when you say one hundred and fifty points, it is equal to one and a half carats. It is not necessarily true that the larger the carat weight, the more valuable the diamond is. Diamond dealers also consider a stone's color, clarity, and cut, as well as carat weight when pricing a diamond and often their pricing varies
Clarity
The degree to which a diamond is free of inclusion is called clarity. A diamond's size and type determine the value of the stone depending on where the inclusions exist. Inclusions are rated with the following aspects:FL = Flawless
IF = Internally Flawless - minimal surface blemishes
VVS1-VVS2 = Very, Very Small inclusions
VS1-VS2 = Very Small Inclusions
SI1-SI2 = Small Inclusions
I1-I2-I3 = Imperfect - inclusions can be seen by the naked eye
Although slight inclusions decrease the worth of a diamond, they do not take away a diamond's beauty.
Color
Another aspect determines value is the uniqueness of its color. Particularly scarce in nature are colorless diamonds. Shades within the range of pure whites to beginning yellows cannot easily be determined by an unpracticed eye.The exclusions to high value equivalent to that of colorless stones lie in the bright-colored diamonds, for example, those with amber, red, or blue colors. Diamonds like these that are in the larger sizes demand huge prices and are rapidly snatched up by collectors all over the world.
Cut
Primarily, nature determines how a diamond is cut, but it takes a master diamond cutter to unveil a diamond's true beauty. The art of diamond cutting today has been distinguished by using an accurate mathematical formula. A good number of diamonds are cut with 58 facets. The diamond's light-reflecting properties and its ability to cause light dispersion determines a good cut is. Nevertheless, the cut you prefer depends on your taste.
