In my 3 years of 40s singleness, I've been all over the board. Oddly enough, I began optimistic and full of hope for finding the man of my dreams. Then reality hit. Sign up for enough online dating sites, go out with enough tainted fish, and reality is sure to smack you in the face. Hard. What I couldn't figure out was why I was having such a hard time finding 'him.' I'd never had such a hard time before. When I divorced in my 20's, I was dating my next husband in a few short months. And when I was divorced in my 30s, I jumped right back in the dating pool-twice-successfully. Or so I thought at the time. When I found myself divorced in my 40's. I found myself single for the longest stretch of my dating life. But why? How the hell did this happen? Why can I suddenly not find a man? Oh wait, there's one. Nope, false alarm. The first year I blamed myself. The second year I, well I blamed myself. Finally, in this 3rd year I see that it was me! You heard me right. Step one: take responsibility for your life. You're 40, you're single and I'm willing to bet you're carrying around a hella lot of blame. A hella lot of what's wrong with me. STOP.IT.NOW. Taking responsibility is one thing, blame is something else entirely.
