The memories we all have in growing up.

When we were kids there were a lot of things we saw and did. The late 50's through the early 70's was a great time to be a kid. For many the tv was something we watch a lot. All the old shows that Mom and Dad would let us stay up to see. All those Saturday morning cartoons. The tv set you had to adjust the rabbit ears to get that better picture. To being out side and play in those hot days to those snowy wintery fun! Making a tent with two chairs and throwing a blanket over them. This was still the time when our Mom's were home with us and not at a job somewere. All those times we sat at the table to eat supper together. Having fun in going out in the car for a ride. There was so much fun! The picture you see here is a picture that my Dad took of me in the front yard of our house around 1965.

What did we watch?

It was black and white for most of us.

The television...........That was our medium to the out side world like today it is the computer. Remember all the shows we watch were not so cluttered up with commercials. No icons on the screen during the show. No commercials along the bottom of the sreen dring the show also. If there where any reference to curtain subject matters they where so slight that they went right over or heads in those shows we watched. In the 70's that started to change. We had one channel to watch in the 60's. that was all we needed and it seemed there was something we wanted to watch. Now days we have all these channels and have a hard time to find something to watch. Why is that? Maybe the shows were better back then. What was there we liked to watch?

The Magic In Cartoons

Did we learned a lot from cartoons?

Saturday mornings were filled with a bowl of cereal and cartoons. We would get up before Mom and Dad and go to the livingroom(most homes had one tv) to watch cartoons. We all had our favorites to watch. I think one favorite of ours was the cartoon just below here. Watch and be a kid again.

More That We Remember

What other memories do we have from back then that we loved?

PLAYING GAMES! Inside the house and outside in the yard. All those hours of playing hide and seek, statue, playing a board game on the sidewalk. Right by the back door stoop and mom saying move the game away from the back door. Playing army, that was mostly the boys played. Oh there are so many games we did outside. Inside the house we played many board games and games we made up also cards. My sister and me would play guess what food is this. Did you guys play that too? We learn to win and to lose. Think back to the games you played.

Great job! You focused on 40-55 year olds, but some kids love these 'classic' shows. 5* and fan.
