ccording to the Anholt State Brands Index (ASBI), North Carolina tops the list of states where Americans want to live. Simon Anholt, who developed the ASBI, notes that a State's brand value can be measured using six key verticals including place, potential, presence, pulse, people and prerequisites.
The ASBI provides a quantitative assessment of each State as perceived by Americans, and also across the top 15 countries that have the highest levels of inbound tourism. The survey was conducted among 21,410 respondents that included 9000 Americans who proportionally represented the population. Besides this, 12,000 people in 15 countries were surveyed to record their attitudes and perceptions of the 50 states in the U.S. The 15 countries were chosen to ideally represent America's top inbound tourist markets.
According to the ASBI, the top 5 states where Americans want to live are: 1) North Carolina, 2) Virginia, 3) Florida, 4) Colorado and, 5) Oregon. These five states scored consistently well with regard to quality of life, physical appeal, climate, infrastructure, educational opportunities, job opportunities etc.
While U.S. citizens ranked North Carolina and Virginia as first and second among the most desired states to live, foreign respondents rated California and Florida as the top places they would love to live in.
The ASBI could potentially be a very useful tool. For example, government officials in states wishing to improve their ranking could utilize the data to created targeted improvements and marketing campaigns. The ASBI could also be used by homebuyers to help them understand the strengths and shortcomings of particular residential markets. There are potentially many other uses of this tool by real estate investors to size up different residential, condominium and home sale markets.

Apple, Inc is not only wonderful companies to look at when one considers those companies that are successful and have made a strong name for themselves in the marketplace, but they are a great example of a company that mastered the art of the comeback. At the start of the eighties, it was basically Apple and IBM in a race for first place. Thousands of homes all over America had Apple personal computers on their desks. But just a few scant years later, the PC was king, Microsoft was everything, and Apple was forgotten. Though they maintained a place in the marketplace with mildly successful software applications, they didn't break through again until the late nineties with a product called the iMac. This computer was revolutionary in virtually no way, other than its marketing campaign and its exterior design. With its translucent, colorful shell, the iMac went on to become a major success, and give Apple its first profitable days in five years. This was of course followed by the enormously successful iPod and iPhone, and today Apple is in a better market position than ever before.
Studying companies such as Apple and Nike (and thousands of others) is important for a variety of reasons. Not only can these companies relate terrific stories of how to succeed in today's world, but they can be mightily inspirational for the up and coming entrepreneur. Books are plentifully available, and recommended for anyone wanting to compete in today's America.

These are often wood or lacquer and can be painted or stained to match the elements that are most important to you.
For those who enjoy decadence and a sense of old world trends in a more modern style, leather headboards have become a choice purchase. These can have an elegant, pampered appearance and aura that brings peace and comfort to the room, or they can provide a very masculine background for a bachelor pad around which a range of themes from rustic to moneyed can be formed. Of course, your personal sense of style may not fall within any of these trends, but by keeping up with the trends domestically, you'll have the advantage of knowing what is available and easily found on the market today and what sorts of styles are going to be more difficult to track down.
