A lesson in faith and architecture
Was it them or were they being led by a higher power? I challenge anyone to walk inside here and not to experience an almost profound sense of peace. Perhaps it is something more of us should spend more time thinking about?
Here is a small lens on two beautiful churches in South West Cork and it is also a pictorial challenge which all are welcome to participate in. Having said that if your local church happens to be the Sistine chapel, then these churches have no chance. However if you happen to live outside highly built up areas or you have seen and photographed some gem. Please feel free to add it to the plexo. Thanks and have fun.
Clonakilty church
South West Cork
Beautiful and an absolute joy to behold. On the top of each arch they have the twelve apostles, six on each side of the aisle. The outside built with old stone is dominated by exquisite sculptures of biblical figures.
Darrara church
Ring
This setting is in and around a very small rural community just three miles outside Clonakilty. Also a very beautiful church surrounded by lovely lawn and beautiful trees with a small flowing stream to the right of it. Craftmanship of the highest order.

I prefer Clonakilty. It's too bad they have the parking lot right up next to it, though!

- How unfair it is that life is so short when there is so much beauty around us. If only we had more time...perhaps in the afterlife?

- While visiting Europe, we had the opportunity to visit a number of churches. I love the architecture of churches and the magnificence of their interiors -- which definitely make them beautiful places to worship.
