42 Inch TVs - The Popular Choice

42 Inch TV are the most popular size and models of televisions. A 42 Inch TV used to be considered a larger television only a year or two ago, now they are almost considered an entry level size display. With developments in technology LCD, LED and Plasma televions are available in much larger sizes up to 65 inches, so this has made the affordability of 42 inch displays much better as they are no longer top of the line models. Lets take a deeper look at this popular TV option.

Televisions Over the Years

Samsung 42 inch TVTelevision has evolved remarkably over the years from the old tube television sets with the snowy picture. Big bulky square things with four thin legs, in the 50s and 60s these would be really trendy and anyone would be proud to show them off, unfortunately only a few people could afford a television back then and so if something good was on the whole street would pile into the house to watch on your TV, I think maybe this would have been a bit tedious after a while. Nowadays television has evolved into flat screen TV's that are extremely light and can even be hung on the wall, the most popular TV at the moment seems to be the 42 inch HDTV "high definition television", prices range for these televisions depending on where you go.
The big TV manufacturers in the USA during the 50s and 60s seems to have been Admiral, RCA and Zenith who had a selection of televisions released. The main manufacturers in the UK were Bush, Decca, GEC and Pye, between them there was a large selection of television sets to choose from. All of these however were very heavy and the picture quality was usually snowy due to using indoor aerials.
Nowadays TV's are relatively cheap to buy and rarely are very heavy as the technology has progressed through the years there was no longer a need for the big bulky sets, no more heavy glass screens etc. In my opinion the very best time to shop for a new television (or anything for that matter), is just after Christmas when the shops all have their sales on from 50% to 80% off sometimes. Don't you just hate it when you are sitting down to your Christmas dinner and an advert comes on the television advertising that thing you just paid £400 for is now in the sale with 60% or 70% off, it really annoys me and so as I said before the best time to buy anything in my personal opinion is just after Christmas.
I am always amazed at how small things can be nowadays, for instance there are gadgets to let you watch TV or browse the internet on the move that can be held in your hand. With tiny little screens that show perfect picture quality and these tiny little gadgets have massive amounts of memory installed. I take my hat off to all these extremely smart people who spend years developing such things, I am in awe at the amazing technological equipment that is available to buy in the shops today. There are constantly new gadgets being produced for the end user to purchase with TV and personal computers getting better and better all the time.
There are a lot of different manufacturers and a mega amount of electrical stores where you can buy TVs and in my opinion a very nice TV to buy is the 42 inch HDTV, and remember if you are shopping for something new, keep your options open and check at least 3 or 4 different shops for the best deal.
