New Orleans 1815
General Andrew Jackson's great victory over the British army! This DVD tells the story of General Andrew Jackson's great victory over a British force commanded by Sir Edmund Packenham. The British landed in New Orleans in an attempt to win decisive control of the Mississippi Valley, but Jackson had constructed formidable fortifications. During the ensuing battle, the American troops suffered only a handful of causalities, while the British endured heavy losses of some 2,000 men. The British cause was lost and they soon returned home. This program, narrated by Bob Sessions, features expert analysis, atmospheric re-enactments, and period images.
The Quarter by Carriage - New Orleans French Quarter Filmed Summer 2005
"Do you know what I like about a carriage ride? It recalls a quieter, simpler time...the gentle rocking and clops of hooves...It's a slower, more graceful way of getting around the city. Somehow, I just sense the stories and history of the old French Quarter differently from a carriage." With these wistful words, tour guide Bill Norris along-with driver Jean Jacques Bellemare-begin a forty-five minute long journey through the fabled streets of the French Quarter drawn by the dutiful mule Milky Way. Join them as they discuss the stories and characters of the Vieux Carre-"the old square"-the original town of New Orleans, Louisiana that despite three hundred years of hurricanes, fires and floods...not to mention pirates...has survived to become a treasured landmark of living history-a neighborhood unlike any other in America.

French Quarter
New Orleans at the turn of the century. It was a time when there was jazz in the streets and pleasure in the houses. Thats the setting for this drama of a young girl who comes to the city to find a future, but instead discovers her past through witchcraft, voodoo and drugs.

- KARES was created in Katrina's immediate aftermath. The acronym stands for Katrina Arts Relief and Emergency Support. Though in 2007 the fund no longer provides "Emergency" support, we continue to support writers affected by the storm through both grants and exposure, as well as showcase New Orleans authors and literature, and contribute to the education of our city's next generation of writers. In short, we're not changing our name.
- HEART LIKE WATER
- Heart Like Water: Surviving Katrina and Life in its Disaster Zone is the only book from a first person perspective from a resident who never once left New Orleans during Katrina or its aftermath, and too it's the first to include all regions affected by the storm. Books I Recommend
My New Orleans: Ballads to the Big Easy by Her Sons, Daughters, and Lovers
Excellent book. This is the first New Orleans related book I read after Katrina and it was very cathartic. It's a love story from some of New Orleans' famous sons and daughters.
