Welcome to 4d scans Pregnancy: Knowing what is inside the womb

4d scans is an ultrasound used in medical technology to know the gender of the gender of a child while it is still at the womb. During pregnancy, it is expected how excited couples can be with the baby.

This is similar with the 3d scans however, the fetal movements can be recognized during the process.

Let us further discover 4d ultrasound scans and have a blissful pregnancy.

How does a 4d baby ultrasound scans work?

4d scans in action

Baby ultrasound is a frequency diagnostic procedure used to pass high frequency waves to the body of the woman. This in turn, reflects back echo which is then analyzed to create the image of what is inside the womb- the baby .

In 3d ultrasound, a three-dimensional image of the fetus is then recognized. It is on this procedure that the sound waves are sent straight down and reflected back, they are sent at different angles.

This sound waves are filtered and determined by the computer system to reconstruct the image of the baby. Captured rapidly, this produced the 4d scans.

4d Scans asks : What is pregnancy ultrasound?

Pregnancy ultrasound is an imaging test used to determine the development of the fetus in the womb. This can be 2d, 3d or 4d depending on the preference of the mother however such decision should be consulted to the obstetrician.

Baby Scanning revolution

defining the difference on baby scanning

2d scans is the most common obstetric diagnostic mode. This is generated with a two-dimensional area for the scanned body area. However, this is unable to determine the gender of the child assound waves being sent straight down and reflected back.

3d scanning

In the 3d scanning, the sound waves are sent at different angles compared to that of the 2d scan. The process enables the procedure to generate a three-dimensional image to create the image of the fetus.

4d scans : 4d baby scans

4d scans is like the 3d scan only that the fetal movements could be monitored. Because the procedure rapidly capture the image, it produces the 4d baby ultrasound scans.

Why and when pregnancy ultrasound is needed?

1. For Diagnosis and confirmation of early pregnancy or expected pregnancy.

Through 4d ultrasound, the health of the baby and the mother is monitored. In the process, the gestational sac can be visualized as early as four and a half weeks of gestation and the yolk sac at about five weeks. Moreover, the embryo can be observed and measured by about five and a half weeks.

2. To confirm the confirm the site of the pregnancy is within the cavity of the uterus.

3. For diagnosis of fetal malformation in the early stage of pregnancy. Many structural abnormalities in the fetus can be reliably diagnosed by an ultrasound scan, and these can usually be made before 20 weeks.

4. To determine the gestational age and assess the fetal size. Through the high frequency waves used in pregnancy ultrasound, fetal measurements can be used to determine the gestational age.

5. To maintain and check the over-all health both of the mother and the baby.

6. To determine the presence of more than one fetus.

7. To know the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby and the placenta location.

Experiencing Pregnancy Scans

When it is best to do a 4d baby scan?

3d scan and 4d baby scans are suggested to be done on the phase between 24 and 34 weeks.

At this time of pregnancy, there is sufficient water around the baby who is relatively speaking is small. The sonographer can in these circumstances obtain the best shots. When the baby is larger with less water around the baby is less active, the head tend to drop in the pelvis and the results may not as brilliant as are usually.

The 4D Baby Scan experience - A sonographer s point of view

quoted from 4d-ultrasoundscan.co.uk/articles/4D-BabyScan-Sanographer

I have now been an employee and lead Sonographer for One Stop Clinics for a few years and feel it is an absolute privilege to be a part of bringing so much joy to so many families.

Sharon smewing 4d baby Ultrasound scans. In our NHS setting we often do not have the time to make the pregnancy scan experience as pleasurable as possible alongside the medical scan. However in the private clinic setting we can spend more time making sure parents can fully enjoy their scan experience and see their unborn baby in a way not usually seen in their hospital setting.

It is amazing to see so much detail with the 4D scans and see this little person behaving in a way we only usually see when the baby is born. Mothers and Fathers love to see their baby sucking its thumb or toes, smiling and wriggling around. Mums tend to bond with their babies more easily as they feel their baby moving but I have found fathers to get very emotional as they 'meet their baby' in a way they can relate to - we have had many a tear in the scan room!

Mums too, love to see movements which they can not feel and also get very emotional. Siblings are always welcome to see the scans and we try to involve children as much as possible so they too feel involved with this new little person.

It happens occasionally that the baby is not in a good position to achieve optimal 4d ultrasound images -babies certainly have a will of their own - and it can be frustrating for parents and sonographers. Over the years, we have developed many a technique to get our own way in the end!

As experienced sonographers, we enjoy providing this valuable service but we are also proud to perform a general pregnancy ultrasound scan alongside the 4D baby scans to ensure all is progressing as it should be. This part of the examination, known as the wellbeing scan, is also vital and we offer a full scan report to include fetal growth measurements for the parents to keep along with their hospital obstetric notes.

This additional pregnancy ultrasound scan information has at times proven to be invaluable, as we sometimes find a baby to be much smaller than was expected. On a number of occasions, we have found a problem not previously known, and this information has helped those involved with the pregnant woman's care to ensure she gets all the care she needs. We do play our part in ensuring a good outcome with a healthy baby.

It is not usual practice for a 'normal pregnancy' to be scanned beyond the 20 week scan in the NHS setting, and so this free fetal well-being scan available with 4D baby scans also provides reassurance for mum and dad that all is as it should be. When problems are found, senior consultant opinion is available immediately to advise on the next step and referral for the most appropriate pregnancy care.

One Stop Clinics as a company has grown over the years and our good name has spread far and wide. Our aim is to provide the best possible service to our clients and we work within strict guidelines to make this happen. It is certainly good to be a part of this successful and caring team and make the whole 4d scans experience pleasurable to so may families.
