Why is Fitness For Seniors so Important?
Regular exercise will help protect you from chronic disease, improve your mood and lower your chances of injury. The older you are, the more you have to gain from exercise. All it takes is 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
If you can only start with five minutes of walking, then that's what you should do.
One of my favorite plans to recommend for getting started is the five-minutes-out, five-minutes-back.
Just like it sounds, you walk out for five minutes, turn around, and walk back. That's it...10 minutes of walking, and off you go about your day.

We all probably know of at least one senior citizen who seems to defy the laws of aging and remains in top physical shape well beyond their peers. We also tend to dismiss this person as genetically gifted or just unusual. However, research, and more and more seniors, are showing us that this doesn't have to be the case. Many of the declines in fitness with age are due to lack of use, not just the normal aging process.

- Thank you for this lens. Usually, the upper age group are left behind in terms of exercise. Exercise is important to avoid degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis which targets the hips and other weight bearing joints. Others with severely arthritic hips need to have hip replacement but unfortunately some have defective devices which made them file for a DePuy Pinnacle Lawsuit.
