As a child, I played carom, also spelled carrom. We played it alot, and I'd love to have a carom board again. These games are just very interesting, and will pass some of them on to my family. We are board game enthusiasts, and there haven't been any new ones lately, that have piqued our interest, so - looks like we'll have to investigate the "old"! Congratulations on your LotD!

I know Senet - the basis for the Roman game of Tabula, and I have a beautiful teak Dakon set. The others are totally new to me and it was a great pleasure to read of them. Blessed by an angel today
  • davidtrounce Aug 10, 2010 @ 9:30 am | delete
    Thanks for the encouragement Susanna.
  • WordCustard Aug 10, 2010 @ 6:14 am | delete
I'd heard of Senet but learned more about it here and the others were new to me! It's interesting how board games may look different but there is a universal human desire to invent ways to play and compete!

very cool, I always thought that the dice game in pirates of the Caribbean looked fairly interesting, the game itself just based on observing reminds me a lot of poker. I haven't played it myself but will have to give it a go one day.
