Got hitched? Took the plunge, tied the knot, and became espoused? The least you can get out of the deal is a nice holiday, right?
Seychelles travel advice
Seychelles accommodation
Seychelles accommodation is extremely popular with newlyweds due to its incredible scenic surroundings, tropical island atmosphere and, not least of all, the favourable exchange rate. But before you set sail into the sunset, here are a few pieces of Seychelles travel advice that will probably be the last thing to cross your mind in your state of post-nuptial bliss:- Vaccinations: In order to keep the Seychelles free of Yellow Fever, legislation has been passed that require any visitors who come from, or via, an area that is known to be partly/wholly infected with Yellow Fever (including certain parts of Central South America and Central Africa) less than six days prior to arrival to show proof of vaccination. If you travel to the Seychelles via airplane this should not be a problem.
- Price variations according to season: Unlike other popular holiday destinations, the Seychelles doesn't have a clearly defined high- and low season. Due to its favourable Mediterranean climate, tourists flock to the island all year round, albeit more so during the summer vacation time for Europe (June/July to August and September to January). During these times you can expect slightly inflated accommodation prices, although restaurant- and activity tariffs remain relatively stable.
- Accepted currencies: You will be able to use your credit card all over the island, but if you prefer to deal strictly in cash you may do so in GB Pound Sterling (£), the US Dollar (US$) and the Euro (%u20AC). Hotels, guest houses and other Seychelles accommodation providers require that you settle your bill in foreign currency, while transport and incidental purchases may be settled in local currency, namely the Seychelles Rupee (SCR).
- Seychelles tourism authorities: It is always good to know who is in charge, and when it comes to Seychelles travel this is the STB, or Seychelles Tourism Board. This organisation oversees everything from national tourism policies, to accommodation rates, marketing and product development. If there is anything specific that you need to know before you book your holiday, the STB will be your best bet.
- Visa requirement: Good news! No matter who you are and which country you come from you do not require a visa to get into the Seychelles. What you do require is the following:
- A passport that is valid on both the date of entry to, and the date of exit from, the islands.
- A return/onward airplane ticket.
- Proof of accommodation with valid contact details of the establishment.
- Proof of sufficient funds for the duration of your stay.
And there you have it - five important things to keep in mind before you book your Seychelles honeymoon. Enjoy!
