Must Follow Rules

To be a logo designer you need much more than just software expertise. You need to have responsibility, a sense of creativity and an eye for detail. Missing on these important features, you could be seen as an amateur designer who doesn't know how to handle professional logo designing. Here are a few rules that logo designers need to abide by.

1. Read and Understand the Design Brief

When a client provides you with the design brief, your job is to go through it carefully, analyzing each demand of the logo. Wherever you find some issues, you have to communicate directly with the client. Customers prefer an understanding and interactive logo designer who understands the brief and can interact with them over it, pointing out the pros and cons of the design. Logo designers who do not follow the design brief and end up creating their own designs are always in risk of losing customers.

2. Careful Submission of Designs

Do not submit designs without going through them carefully. Make sure every element in the design brief has been catered to and that there are no silly mistakes while designing. Most importantly, make sure your logo design doesn't have elements that could lead to trademark infringement.

3. Be Punctual in Work Submission

Meeting deadlines is critical for the success of any project. However, most logo designers take up multiple projects and end up delaying the work process considerably. You should avoid being late in work submission if you value your reputation as a logo designer.

"Punctuality is the art of guessing how late the other fellow is going to be"

4. Do Not Use Clipart, Stock Images

Amateur logo designers do not understand the need for being creative and unique. They pick up stock images or clipart images and create an amateur design. This is highly discouraged as it leads to trademark infringement and is against logo designing rules.

5. Using Derivative or Copied Logos

Just because you changed the color and the font of an existing logo design doesn't make it your creation. It is still a copied logo and is very easily detected. If creativity is not your strong power, then don't opt for a creative art like logo designing to be your career.

Follow these basic guidelines and you will be sure to be on a way towards being a professional logo designer.
