50 States Lapbook

Lapbook of the 50 States
With the postcards we set up the bulletin board with a map of the states and an envelope to keep the postcards. For each new state postcard we've rec'd, we put a pin in the map. See the intro photo.
From there we got the idea to make a whole lapbook of the 50 states. It's still a work in progress and we finish up trivia cards and collect the rest of the postcards. See the rest of the story below.

- Great lens! We're just about to begin our unit study on the 50 states. I found http://www.homeschoolhelperonline.com/lapbooks/state.htm which offers free lapbook pages for the 50 states.

- Well done ... I'm featuring this on my State Flag Coloring Pages lens. My dad is a ham radio operator and has hundreds of postcards from all over the world. I should really organize them in lapbooks like this.

- I like that idea. I'm more of a traditional schooler myself, but it might make a good idea for a project.

- Great lens! We've never really done lapbooks, mostly because of my lack of time and the fact that I don't like doing art projects! :) But, this is really cool. Another fun way for early elementary age to learn states is the Which Way USA magazine by Highlights for Children - easy, fun puzzles/games that also teach them the basics of reading a map
