50 Plus Tips For Avon Sales Leaders

I have started this lens to help those who have become or are thinking of becoming a sales leader with Avon Products
. I have been an Avon Rep for over 5 years now and in sales leadership for around 12 months.
The main reason why I decided to do Avon was I was spending so much time, indoors doing online stuff, so I thought well do this, get to to meet people, see what trends are happening in the customers world, plus make some extra cash.

Spring Is Here

Here in the UK we have been enjoying some warm and sunny days. As I write this update 26th March 2012 we have clear blue skies and very warm weather for this time of the year. As an Avon rep it is a good time to highlight items such as sun tan creams and lotions. Yes I know it is only March but there is some real power in the sun.

Also Spring and Summer ranges are hitting the catalogues, take some time and compile a newsletter and let your customers old and new know what is on offer. Newsletter let customers have a quick glance and they can see all the offers Avon have on at this time. At times people often miss the offers when they go through the catalogue, but if you tell them where they are, you will find your sales will also increase.

And why not make up your own bundles and offers, again this will mean more sales for you and more sales means more profit.

Does Avon Work

A question that I am asked and I guess many others are asked is......................... Does Avon work ? Can I really make money at Avon.

And my answer is a BIG YES. Avon does work, if it did not I would not still be doing it and many others around the world would have given up and found something else.

But then you get those who say........................................... Yeah, but I tried it for a bit (and when you ask how long the bit was it was a week - sorry folks you have to work this business for several months). You need to build up trust with customers and show them that you call back when you say you do.

As with all things and all business you need to put in effort and time, and that naughty four letter word called WORK. Yes I said it WORK. if you put in the effort, the time , and the work you too will be seeing money each month.

So going back to the question : Does Avon Work - Yes it does.

Sales LeaderShip 1 - 5

1 - Make an all out commitment to Avon Sales Leadership for at one year.

2 - Sell the the product first, then sell your self and lastly sell the business to your prospect. This is a people business and people will not sell what they do not like and also will find it hard if they do not like you or you like them as a person.

3 - You will find that you will need to spend around 90% of your business time with Avon reps, customers and prospects.

4 - If at all possible try and present your Avon Products and also your Avon Business to one new person everyday. You can do this by chatting, a phone call, an email (please do not spam), Showing them a catalogue.

5 - Let everyone know that you are an Avon Sales leader. Put adverts all over the place. A few good ways of asking people is say "What do you do for a living" ? Let them answer, and they will then ask you the question.

Another way is to say "Do you know anyone who is looking to start their own business or looking for part-time work?" Now with this question it is a third party question and quite often they say well yeah me.

And a last example in this block is when they say oh I am a dental nurse, or I am a Doctor, say fantastic, I am looking at expanding my business in that area , and then go into the do you know part.

Sales LeaderShip Tips 6 - 10

6 - Have a very simple method of prospecting, and the way you sign people up. Do not use complex pictures, or equipment, keep it basic then that way your system can be copied by all your downline and your teams.

7 - You will need to keep your team very motivated. Have regular training meetings where you can say well done to your team and give them small gifts. Also have a regular news letter where you can show people how well they have done. Everyone likes thier name in print.

8.When ever you can attend the companies main events, and try and mix with the top people in the company. A cool way of doing this is to arrange to take one of the top people out for a meal or lunch (your treat) there you will be able to have them for a few hours to yourself and will be able to see what makes them tick and how they work.

9. When you approach people do not give up. Only a very few you speak to will say yes. I have a great saying for this SWSWSW - or Some Will, Some Won't, So What. Life is too short, if they say no move on, find another fish in the sea.

10. Sorry to say this but you do need to lead by example. For if your team see you just sitting at home doing nothing, then guess what - so will they. If they hear you saying oh don't worry about sales just put in the little order, its prospects you need. Then guess what, your sales will be low, theirs will be low, and surprise, suprise so will their teams sales be low, and you will make little money, they will and soon your team will drop out.

If you teach they need to sell £500.00 a campaign, and bring in two reps, then they will teach their teams the same and so on and so on.

To finish this section, can I please say when you are prospecting never pre-judge people. By this I mean, ask the cleaner at work and ask that bank manager and all those in between - cos if you don't someone else will and guess what some will say yes. And will be the one who wants to hear the yes.

Sales Leadership tips 11 - 15

11 - When you meet with your prospect, you will need to ask open ended questions, Ask a question and then shut up. When you are with a prospect you need to be doing the listening and not the talking.
Find out their wants from the buisness. And then when you are sure it is for them give them the presentation.

12 - Please never ever con someone into the business. By this do not invite people around for a meal or BBQ and show them the presentaion, you will lose. By all means say hey come for a BBQ and can I show you this new buisness I am in.

13 - Always look after your downline, for if you do they will look after you. And if you are going to go for a certain goal you will be able to say hey we all need to do extra this month, they will say yep sure and do it for you.

14 - Keep your presentaions alive and brief, no more than 45 minutes. Make them fun, but never swear, use rude words, keep it sweet and simple.

15 - And if someone says No to you, it is not you they are saying No to it is the buisness. Just say hey thats cool no problem, but so I can check things through could you just tell me why you said no. That question allows you to check on few things, they may say oh I cannot afford it. This means they want in but no money - in this instance you can say so if you had the money you would be in?
If they say yes, give them books and order forms and say well get some orders and we can use the commission money to buy your kit.
And so on and so on.

Sales Leadership tips 16 - 20

16 - Always be upbeat about the company, the products and the business. Never speak a negative word about it. An example a learned from a Top person in another company who I had lunch with said he was talking with a young couple about why their business was not growing. He asked them who do you talk about the problems in your business - they said No one. He repeated the question,- they again said No one. A third time he asked the question and they they were saying Skip I no you never never listen but we talk to ................ Oh we talk to each other. Please never be negative about the business.

17 - While we are in this thinking mode, never ever knock other businesses in front of prospects or customers. It does you no good.

18 - Try and add to prospect list on a daily basis. You will always need to be adding names and numbers to this list. You will never want to have an empty prospect book, believe me.

19 - Keep your eyes and ears open for other companies and their rep or agents some may be thinking of changing or leaving the company they are with. Try and attend generic network events. But never persuade them to leave that is wrong.

20 - When you have a new rep join you, always give them a small welcome gift. A few extra books, a diary and pen. It makes them feel special.

Sales leadership tips 21 - 25

21 - When you are chatting with your prospects always under sell the earnings. Show them the hard facts and tell them that it takes work. You need to do this as some people think they get something for nothing.

22 - You need to come up with what is known as an elevator pitch. This is a quick pitch that takes no more than 30 seconds. In it you need to sell Avon.

23 - In the early days when you phone people have it written down as this will help you, and you will find that over time you will be able to pick up the phone and do the pitch. - A good thing is if you have a team, arrange to do group calls at your house, it's real fun.

24 - Always have fun, if you are having others will say it and will want what you have, and believe it or not instead of you having to find people the day will come when your phone will ring, you answer it and this person will say I want to join your team.

25 - Always be positive in your business, and always look for the good in people. Give out as you would expect to receive.

26 - One of the big things that we need to get into our minds is the way we think of ourselves. This self image we have has the power to make or break. Each one of us is unique, we have the ability to achieve anything we want in life. Think big.

27 - When you write down goals write them down in the present tense - for example - I am 10 stone, I have 20 reps in my team. If you write them like this then over a period of time they will come try.

28 - Always read motivational books and listen to success stories on cd and dvd.

28 - Stop feeding your mind with soap operas. Instead of watching an hour of soap a night spend that time reading and calling people, and believe me you will have a growing team and be a success a year from now.

29 - For thirty day speak only positive words of your wife / husband / or partner. And I can see the single ones their smiling saying thanks Andy you have let us off this task......... erm No sorry your task is to only speak postive of the person who always rubs you up the wrong way.

30 - Try and not read a newspaper or listen to the news for a week, and see what a difference it makes to your own life and those around you. You will be a more postive person.

31 - Source the items you need for your own business, buy the best you can afford. A computer with internet access, a mobile phone and some business cards are a good start.

32 - Today right now sit down and spend some time and make a plan on how much time you are willing to spend on your business. And how much you want to be seeing in a years time from the buisness.

33 - A business without a plan is set to fail.

34 - Always start at your own pace and not that of your upline.

36 - Buy your self a filo fax or Franklin Planner and mark down your income goals, your personal goals, your family goals, and your business goals and always keep this with you and look at it a few times aday.

37 - Plan your diary out a week ahead. For example sit down on a sunday and plan when you are going to do this call and that call, when you are delivering orders, when you are prospecting.

38 - Once a week keep some me time a few hours of just you, and a quiet spot, where you can think through some plans and ventures. A place where you can re-charge your batteries. And oh yes, mobiles, computers are OFF, only your planner can go.

39 - Also plan some family time where buisness is backstage and family is first.

40 - Also plan some other half time where you both go out for a meal, a walk, to the pictures. No family, and no buisness.

These things are a most for any one who wants to make a go in this buisness or any other buisness.

Sales leadership tips 41 - 45

41 - As your team grows you can bring in other people who can add that bit of training that the team needs.

42 - Always send front-line team members cards on birthdays and at holiday times.

43 - Remember when children are born and send a card.

44 - Your down-line is everything to you. Treat them well and they will treat you well back.

45 - When your team starts to expand have days away with team players, and invite a guest along and have brain storming sessions, planning sessions, and meals. This is on the business cos by now you will be earning.

A side note here where I said team players a lot of people think, just the people they sponser, and the answer is yes and no. In most cases it is but some times there is someone a few levels down is is making waves, building teams invite them too.

Sales Leadership Tips 46 - 50

46 - I know I have mentioned books a few times, but I will mention these again. You need to read training books, Success books, Public Speaking books.

47 - Also buy your team players a book.

48 - Once your team grows start a monthly book of the month club off - This will be another income source for. You will be able to buy the books at cost price and sell on at a profit.

49 - A good series on Leadership Training is by a guy called John Maxwell. He is a Christian, but his books are used by many of the top companies in the world.

50 - Well just do it. Go out there and be a success you were made to be.

First Steps To Success

Success is a journey and not a destination

Avon is like any business, but it does not cost a lot to join, and to be honest this can be a problem. Not because it costs next to nothing to join, but because in your mind you are saying it only cost me £15.00 to join, so it is a £15.00 business. This is wrong thinking.

Make a note and say it cost you £15,000 or 150,000 to join, and you and your mind will treat it different. And you will see a difference in your business start to happen.

But if you are like a lot of people I guess your Avon kit might still be in it's box under your bed ready for the right time........................................ Well the time will never be right, so take that step today right now, get it out, and make a start.

You might have to make a list of people......... Do it
You might have to give some books out................ Do it

Ok I can here you say people might say no to me or laugh at me, yes that is very true, but guess what they will stop laughing when you no longer work for a boss and you work your own hours.

Please Take that first step to success today, and the next day another step, and each day you wake take another step in your new venture, and very soon you could be free.

Time To get Ready

Well Yes Christmas will soon be here. As I am writing this part it is the end of August 2009, and in a few months time Christmas will be seen and heard in the shops.

As Avon Reps, we need to start to plan and think how we are going to handle our Christmas marketing and planning.

1) We need to find out when we get our last order for delivery to us for Christmas.

2) We need to start to drip feed this information to our customers.

3) We need to re-canvass our areas before the Christmas rush

4) We need to make plans to host some Christmas preview parties for customers old and new.

Are You Ready ????

Well as I write this we are in the backend of August, Summer holidays are almost over, and from now on the nights are getting longer and people are starting to think about dare I say it Christmas, and the holiday busying period. As Avon reps how prepared are you for this one of the biggest and best time to be an Avon Rep.

Now I am going to be blunt and honest with you all here, if you are not able to make money from september to end of December as an Avon rep, then you are doing something very wrong in your business. Hand on heart I can tell you from expierience that this is one of the easiest times to make money. Your customers will be desperate to see the latest offerings you have and what new products you have in the Catalogue.

I know I said it is easy to make money during this period, but just think how much more money you could make if you plan ahead, make lists of new people you could show a book to, think of places where you could hold a party. Just think outside of the box and you will increase the money you make many times.

But over all have fun and build that list of customers both new and old.

ReCanvess Your Area

Can I give you a little or big hint on how to increase your customer base which in turn will increase your earnings. Recanvess your area on a regular basis, at least a few times a year is a good idea.

You see people move houses on a regular basis and the first time you left a book, in a house those people may have moved on and a family who loves Avon has just moved in and needing and wanting Avon products.

Also some people change their minds, and the time you left a book and they said no, things have moved on in their lives and now they may need Avon. Then there are loads of other reasons why people change their minds.

To give you an example I have just started to recanvess my area and so far I have picked up 14 new customers. Over a year this will add to my income.

You can recanvess your area with leaflets, old catalogues, knocking on doors, but this time I put out current catalogues and picked up orders as well.

So if you have never done a recanvess of your area, spend time and do it, it is very worth the time and the effort.

What is an Avon Sales Leader

To help people understand one of the areas you can earn money as an Avon Rep, I have decided to update my lens, to help you understand What an Avon Sales Leader is. In simple terms this is a person male or female who wants to take their Avon business to the next level. You recruit your own team of Avon Reps (and other sales leaders) and as you move through the program you earn a small percentage of everyones sales, plus on going bonuses, such as travel, holidays and cars.

Anyone can become a sales leader, but you will need to be able to go and recruit people into your business and do small interviews. You will also need to train sales leaders and reps and help each one to grow their own businesses. It is great fun and the rewards can be as big or as small as you want. We are fast approaching Valentines Day a time when people send gifts to each other to say that they love each other. Now as an Avon Rep you should see a spike in items like perfum and after-shave, as couples by gifts for each other.

Also you may see a spike in the way you sell the items and to who you sell, for example you may see a lot more men buying item for their loved ones. Now this can also prove a challenge to you. The lady of the house normally buys the items and the challenge will be to get the gifts to the man.

In the past I have found that often the men will either email you or phone you to place an order, and then you can arrange how you deliver it. Above all make use of this great selling period, highlight the gifts that sell well, and also go that one step further and offer to wrap the presents. men love this service as they find wrapping presents a challenge.

Have Fun

Product Bundles

Are you looking to increase your Avon sales during the quiet times, or looking to just sell more items during the busy periods? If so then why not bundle Avon products together for your customers.

Yes I know Avon do help, by doing this in the catalogues, but why not go that one step further and really make up a gift basket or pack of products that go together? You can have these bundles in at different price ranges to suit all pockets and also all ages.

You can theme the bundles for customers. Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, Easter, and the list goes on and on.

Flip through the catalogue and pick out some products that go together, make up a box or basket, then present it in the right way and when you visit your customers just show them the bundle, and you will find customers will order loads.

Also if you make up several different ones, why not take some road shop, offices, factories and you will find you will generate some extra sales - sales mean more customers and more customers mean more money.
