First time I read it, I've got inspired and... I joined the Squidoo. Now, little over one year one of my lenses got LOTD title. Coincidence or not, but it's about knitting! :)
Thank you so much for sharing your story and for inspiring other people... Your lens is making DIFFERENCE!! Thanks again.

We're still waiting for an answer from the bank! I sold enough hats to keep us at 30 days past due, so we're ok for now. Sorry to hear about your home. Hope things will look up for you soon.
  • Jewelsofawe Oct 21, 2009 @ 7:05 pm | delete
Wow! I have not been active in squidoo. We actually lost our house. Were you able to keep yours? I saw my best friend bought one of your hats and she is not even on squidoo and until I saw your lens I had no idea she knew about this 500 hats. What a great idea!

I feel with you, being in foreclosure for a year already. Hope you will come out on top! I just made a lens (how to win in court) with a link to a different kind of foreclosure defense that keeps the banks on their toes: Neil Garfield's "livinglies" blog - a must read for homeowners in distress.

That's a nice offer! Bookmarking, blogging or posting links is always a great idea. Just don't spam anyone or call it a charity.

If you would like to feature 500 Hats on one of your lenses, that's fine, too. No need to make another lens about it, though.

    Thanks for your help,

    BadMsM

    Hey,
I just read your lens and....WOW. Inspired I was. =]
I don't have any money for one of the much sought after hats for this winter season, but what I do have is my web marketing knowledge. I was wondering if I could create a lens(and possibly more pages on my other networking sites) on my supprot for you and direct some more traffic your way, have a direct link to your lens.
I just wanted to seek your permission before doing this.
Please let me know, and Godbless.

    Hi Jennifer,

I would sell there, but there is an unfounded prejudice against hats knit on a machine among other etsy sellers, even one as simple and basic as mine. I chose not to sell there when I read a post from someone who said she would burn something knit on a machine if it was given to her as a gift.

eCrater has been very good to me so far, if my needs change, I'll consider other options.

    Thanks for your support!
  • JenniferStephens Aug 26, 2009 @ 3:44 pm | delete
You may already know about this site, but etsy.com would be a great place to continue selling your hats! :D

I am in a similar boat after the mortgage company told us not to make a payment while they come up with a solution. Three months later they told us that if we miss another payment they will foreclose and since we were behind they could not offer any other solution but foreclosure. I feel like I missed something.

We are still hanging on though. I am sending an email to my friends an family and posting to my facebook.

Hi 5*, lensrolled to 7 of my lenses, and favorited. Will tweet and will blog on two of my blogs. I love crafting for good causes. Count on me for repeat purchases! Sylvia

I love that you're taking control of the situation. I've ordered my hat and cross posted your page. You go Girl! Bear hugs and best of luck, Frankie

Barb: you put the size/color or donation preference in the instruction box on the PayPal page. The sizes are listed in the product description on the eCrater page. Adult sizes only, I'm afraid. The government has got so many regulations for childrens items, I can't keep up.

Check the color wheel on this page and pick a colors grouping you'd like. I am knitting this out of my stash, so I'll do my best to knit you a hat you love. :) Thanks!

Is there a way to pick a color? Does one size fit all? There didn't seem to be a way to select a size (child or adult) or a color.

I'll help spread the word, and I'll buy a hat. Or two. Maybe more!

You might already know this about me that I am a big supporter of crocheting and knitting for worthy causes. You can count on me for 3 hats! One for each of the women in our family -- ooops, forgot mom!

Great lens. I tweeted it and posted it on my facebook profile. Best of luck with this. I just emptied my paypal account for my holiday trip, but once I get paid for another job, I'll be sure to drop by and purchase a hat for the homeless.

I also put this on my Facebook profile. I hope that helps. I'm a bit on the low income side myself so can't order at this time. I had to empty my PayPal account earlier this month.

I most certainly have to have one of these. We'll create a new trend in chef head wear, or something...my order is in!

How creative and enterprising. I too wish I could help but I lost a major client 6 weeks ago and have been trying to pick up another client. The best of luck to you though. I'm sure many of us want to stay up to date on how it goes.

Thanks for your kind words and support. I hope things get better for both of you dc64 & mysticmama. :)

Susanna, you've got it. Red's my favorite color; I knew I liked you! LOL

What a great idea...I can really relate since I'm in the same boat...I wish you the best of luck :-)

Hey! If I pay you extra for postage can you send it to Australia for me? I would love a hat from you - in red of course

I wish I could help you out as far as money is concerned, but I'm moving out of my apartment because I can't afford it anymore. I can post this to my facebook account and blog, so maybe it will get you some traffic. Good luck to you, and I hope you get to keep your home.
