$50 a day with Squidoo, Learn and Earn

Nov 8, 2008 -- I just decided some how some way I am going to be making $50 or more per day with Squidoo by Dec 31st.

Nov 9 -- Freshened up my lenses and made a list of new ideas for Squidoo lenses. Setup discussions at Beginners Marketing Class 50 a day discussion and Squidoo Marketing on Ning

Nov 11 -- Submitting lenses to the Squidoo Directory for traffic and lensrank
Two step process (takes a few minutes which is probably why I avoided doing this earlier). Squid Directory SquidDirectory Group on Squidoo
Going to do some research on others ways to make money on my lenses including widgets and CPA's.

Nov 13 -- Signed up with Pepperjam Pepperjam and I am confused??

Nov 15 -- Made this Squidoo Lens and decided to be more active at SquidU the forum for Squidoo lensmasters. FireFox Add-on to make HTML & BB code links super easily. This is a great time saver!!

Nov 16 -- Signed up for Lensroll and submitting lenses. Twittered about this lens.

Nov 17 -- Added 2 lenses each to Squidpoint and Lensroll. Confused by Pepperjam so I may look at working some other affiliate programs that I have signed up with over the years (mostly with no success).

Nov 18 Great news: Made an affiliate sale = $35.98!!
Made another decision: I have decided to split up some of my lenses into more specific and targeted lenses. For example, I am going to make a few lenses out of my Self Help DVD lens. I have given other people advice to be very focused with their lenses (just taking my own advice).

Nov 19 Forgot about SquidDirectory Group so now I am adding to Squid Directory, and Lensroll I will add all old lenses and new lenses to these directories until further notice.
Read some great tips from Joan at Squidoo Marketing on Ning. Published my new lens Motivational Movies which was just split up from my Self Help DVD lens. Looking at some affiliate programs and products that I would want to promote. If you don't know most products have affiliate programs where you can signup and if you make a sale you make money!!

Nov 20 -- Submitted my lenses to Yahoo where you can submit your url on Yahoo Submit url not sure if this was worth it? Twittered the update to this lens and my Self Help Quote Lens. I will Twitter Squidoo updates every day.

Nov 21 Made some changes to my Self Help DVD lens. Stopped by at BigJim's Social Networking Site and made several new Web 2.0 friends. Made a new lens Brian Tracy products in an effort to get some more sales I am going to make more affiliate product related lenses. We'll see how it goes..

Nov 22 Added the typical day and what I am not doing to this lens. Decided to start adding a couple of lenses a week and wrote down some ideas for new lenses.

Nov 24 Made a new lens. Was trying to learn a new affiliate program but gave up. Thinking of ways to get this lens to be lens of the day and/or in the top 100?

Nov 25 Losing some steam due to lack of sales?? Freshened some lenses -- added table of contents modules, deleted some banners, and replaced with more links.

Nov 26 Making sure all lenses and social networking sites are linked to each other for max traffic. Astonished by traffic to this lens and my Motivational Movies lens which were both created in the last 2 weeks

Nov 27 Learned how to add colors and borders thanks to Lensmaster Fluffanutta Go to CSS Tricks so you can learn as well. Not sure what I will do with it yet but it looks cool. Made a new lens with an affiliate program I am in.

Nov 28 Making lenses more and more targeted. Helping my son and new lensmaster Michael build a new Gifts for a teenage boy shopping lens. This is a topic we know pretty well with 5 boys around the house!!

Nov 30 Studying on how to convert visitors to affiliate buyers. Found some good tips at Copyblogger.

November Based on my sales and my best guess on my Squidoo income based on lensrank November closes with about $3 a day. A long ways to go to get to $50 a day by Dec 31st.

Dec 1 Wondering if I'll hit my goal? November was about $3 a day. Did make a sale today for a Whopping $1.70!! Oh well at least it is step in the right direction.

Dec 2 A little updating of lenses and twittering is all.

Dec 3 Joined the Spirit of the Season Squidoo challenge. Picked up some great lens publishing tips at 7 Habits of Highly Effective Lensmasters

Dec 4 Submitted my list of steps I take before publishing a lens to the 7 Habits Lens

Dec 6 Making lenses more buy now for Christmas and adding any December specials to affiliate lenses and my usual typical day activities.

Dec 7 Trying to get a little more familiar with StumbleUpon because I have seen it generate a tremendous amount of traffic -- quickly.

Dec 8 Frustrated. Did nothing tonight. Fresh and back at it tomorrow.

Dec 11 Just saw $7 in my Pepperjam account not sure how or why because it has confused me -- time to learn!!

Dec 12 Asking for help at Beginners Marketing Class on Pepperjam.

Dec 13 Sold 3 books through the Amazon module!! I thought the Amazon module wasn't working (just kidding it just didn't seem like it).

Dec 14 Signed up for Propeller to get more traffic and TwitAd to get more money (monetize your Twitter account we'll see...). Affiliate sales today for $48.93!! It's starting to gain some momentum.

Dec 15, 16, 17, & 18 Day job has been 12 hours a day, ugh... Not even getting to my daily activities

Dec 19 Moving date of $50 a day to Jan 31. I have not even been on Squidoo for 15 minutes a day pretty much all month except last weekend. Poor timing with the Christmas but I am worn out. More Amazon sales today!!

Dec 23 Added those that have accepted the challenge still not even putting 15 minutes in a day right now. Back on it soon.

Dec 29 Getting Amazon sales from this lens and pretty much this one only. Happy about the sales but why not my other lenses??

Jan 1 Learning about Zazzle and Cafepress to add to my lenses (and income)

Jan 9 Squidoo earnings received of $24.43 still putting in no time here at Squidoo due to day job -- hopefully you guys can help and contribute ideas so we can all learn from each other

Jan 11 Changed goal again to March 31st day job is not getting to let up until March at the soonest. Not even doing daily activities the last month.

Jan 17 This is going to need to be a group effort -- us all learning from each other. Looking like a few hours at the most on the weekends for me for awhile!!

Feb 6 Hope to spend a few hours this weekend -- a long time away. Just checked and did make a nice affiliate sale this week $71 affiliate lens

Feb 27 Still completely absorbed with day job so I will need to pick this up again later. A few bucks still coming in though :)

I typically am working on Squidoo from 9 pm to 11 pm. Weekends who knows sometimes a couple hours sometimes 5 or 6 hours. The following is what I am doing on a typical day (since I made the decision to go to $50 a day):

Twitter pretty much everything I am doing. Visit 2 lensmasters and rank and comment on at least 1 of their lenses.

Do 1 or 2 of the following on Squidoo:

1. Review and freshen an old lens
2. Make a new lens
3. Work on a newer lens

Submitting lenses to SquidDirectory Group on Squidoo and Lensroll.

Make some posts either asking questions or helping at SquidU the forum for Squidoo Lensmasters, Warrior Forum, Beginners Marketing Class and Squidoo Marketing on Ning.

Do 1 of the following:

1. Search for an affiliate program for a product I would like to promote or through ones I have already signed up with
2. Look at other lensmasters and others that are actually making money to learn from them
3. Watch a video or listen to call to help my Squidoo or Internet skills
4. StumbleUpon, Delicious, and/or Digg my lenses

This usually all combined takes me about 2 hours so then I conclude with updating what I have done here and my blog and go to bed.

If any of these "regular" activities do not make cents (get it?) and you KNOW them to be a waste of time on my journey to $50 a day with Squidoo please tell me so I do not waste my time. Thanks in advance.

Following is a list of what I am NOT doing anymore:

• Not obsessed with lensrank

• Using banners ads and replacing with more links

• Stopped wondering about making money and started taking action

Just in case you are wondering how much time I have to spend on Squidoo. I am happily married with 5 boys, a full time job (about 45 hours a week), and active at church. Squidoo is in 4th place which leaves me a couple of hours at night after the kids go to bed to work on the $50 a day with Squidoo challenge.
I am not new to Squidoo but just new to the money making side of things. I know how to make lenses and steps to get the lensranking higher. However, Squidoo earnings and traffic from others that are on Squidoo are not generating much money.
My focus needs to continue to be on quality content but also generating traffic from people that are looking to buy something not just give me 5 stars and leave a comment in my guestbook to improve my lensrank.
