50 State Quarters Collector's Corner

The quarters clanked excitedly as my kids were flipping them over. Looking for the newest state quarters has become our recent hobby.

Collecting all 50 state quarters, The District of Columbia and United States Territories Quarter is one of our family goals.

This has been a fun hands on way to learn about our 50 states' historical value. On the back of the quarters, the 50 states have picked specific designs to represent them.

What state mottos have you found?

What does the Latin phrase "e pluribus unum" mean?

What a great way to learn about the magnificent country in which we live.

Happy collecting!

Kelly Wissink

The winning images and proposed designs submitted for inclusion in the U.S. Mint 50 United States commemorative quarters program scheduled for release every ten weeks from 1999-2008.
50 State Quarters - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The program was conceived as a means of creating a new generation of coin collectors, and in that it succeeded. The 50 State Quarters program became the most successful numismatic program in history, with roughly half of the U.S. population collecting the coins. The U.S. federal government so far has made a profit of $3.8 billion from collectors taking the coins out of circulation.

The Historian's 50 State Quarters Corner

The United States Mint Historian's Corner
Who We Are
Since 1792, the United States Mint has been the federal agency responsible for the production and distribution of our Nation's coinage. Since then, the United States Mint has accumulated a vast wealth of historical documents and artifacts, making us the custodians of our own history. This history is of immeasurable value, teaching us about our past and helping guide us for the future.

The Historian's Corner strives to preserve our heritage by sharing pieces of our history through a body of primary source material from which the public can find new insight on the relationships among numismatics, art, design, and government-from the birth of our Nation's coinage to the present day.

The Historian's Corner is our corner of the United States Mint's web site, a place where you can:

* Examine rarely seen documents of the United States Mint
* Learn about the history of the United States Mint through primary documentation, as it was happening
* Gain access to an information resource that can be used to track the history of coinage in United States and in the future, conduct research on United States Mint programs and operations.
