Easy Steps for Planning the Perfect 50th Birthday Party

You might consider hiring a party planner. I mean... if you don't have the time or the stamina to deal with all the little details... then a party planner just might be your ticket to a stress free party.

Of course... they aren't free.

But... you can have them do as much or as little as you need, so the expenses will be charged to you according to your budget. They can help you source decorations, plan menus, choose the theme and get those painful invitations printed and sent. With their vast knowledge and experience it can really be a very budget minded choice.

Okay... but what if you've decided that you cant afford a party planner or if you are going to take care of some of the small details... Then you are going to have to do the planning yourself. I bet you need some helpful hits to help you pull off this 50th birthday party without a hitch.

The "Short List" Planning Guide For A Fantastic 50th Birthday Party:

Make a list. .. or several lists.

Write it all down.

Get a notebook with tabbed dividers to record everything you think of. You will know you are organized when you start marking off a completed task.

50th Birthday Themes Are NOT Just Black

A View On Party Themes For The Over The Hill Gang

The last 50th birthday party I decorated for... I used a Gold and Royal Purple theme. The tablecloths were deep purple and the candles were gold. I threw these lavender Diamond Table Confetti
down the center of the table. Of course - this theme was for a lady... :). Very appropriate for this gal... she is all about "Gaudy".

During the summer months - I usually go for a tropical theme. Everyone loves it - and it's so easy to get all the ideas you need. Throw up some tiki-torches and a few palms along with your 50th decorations... and you're all set. Don't forget the Rum Punch!

For my husbands 50th birthday I used Tie-Dye as the theme. I thought it was going to be difficult to find supplies to use... but it was really easy. I even went to the fabric store and got 15 yards of tie-dye fabric to use for table cloths. It was fabulous.

I'm getting ready to plan another 50th party around Valentines Day. I thought I would go with the Valentine theme... but that just wouldn't be appropriate. I've switched to a Las Vegas theme. I just need to have plenty of blinking lights around the doors and a few green table cloths painted to look like gaming tables.

I might even bake some cookies in the shape of clubs, hearts, clovers and diamonds... Who me - Bake? Well - maybe I'll give someone else that job. :)
