Welcome to Green Bay, Wisconsin
Here you will find that we are more than a football community. Although it might be interesting to know that we have the smallest city in the United States to host a professional sports team, the Green Bay Packers.
Green Bay has a west and an east side, which is divided by the Fox River. This river leads the Bay of Green Bay, which is part of Lake Michigan. Here you can go boating and water skiing. Or just sit back and enjoy the water. Walleye fishermen think we have some of the best water to fish.
Take a tour on the double-decker bus. Discover the beauty of the Green Bay Botanical Garden or go on the rides at Bay Beach Amusement Park.

The city is located at the head of its namesake Green Bay, a sub-basin of Lake Michigan, at the mouth of the Fox River. It has an elevation of 581 feet (177 m) above sea level and is located 112 miles (180 km) north of Milwaukee. As of the 2000 census Green Bay had a population of 102,313. Its 2006 estimated census was 100,353. The Town of Green Bay is located several miles northeast of the city.
Green Bay is the principal city of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area, which covers Brown, Kewaunee, and Oconto CountiesMETROPOLITAN STATISTICAL AREAS AND COMPONENTS, Office of Management and Budget, 2007-05-11. Accessed 2008-07-30. and had a combined population of 282,599 at the 2000 census.
Green Bay is an industrial city with several meatpacking and paper plants, and a port on the Bay of Green Bay, an arm of Lake Michigan. It is home to the National Railroad Museum; the Neville Public Museum with exhibitions of art, history, and science; and the University of Wisconsin?Green Bay.
The Green Bay Packers professional football team of the National Football League has been based in the city since 1919. Green Bay is by far the smallest market with an NFL team, although, since it is generally also preferred in the larger Milwaukee and Madison markets, it is not the smallest NFL market de facto. Green Bay is nicknamed "Titletown, USA" for the number of NFL titles (12) it has won over the years (including the first two Super Bowls and Super Bowl XXXI), more than any other team. The name appears on the city seal, is used by the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce for its web address (www.titletown.org) and variations of the word appear in the name of more than two dozen local businesses.ESPN.com, "There is no other TitleTown USA", April 10, 2008.
Green Bay was awarded the title of All-America City twice in the city's history, with the first award in 1964, and the second in 1999.
There is a free public Wi-Fi system in the downtown Green Bay Broadway District that went into operation in 2007.

Cheeseheads and the Packers

I have lived in Green Bay, WI for most of my adult life. I quickly found out that if you were not a Packer fan, then you were from another state. People here live, breath and taste football. Green Bay is popular for the "Cheeseheads", "Tailgating" and "The Green Bay Packers."
The Green Bay Packers have won twelve league championships (more than any other team in the NFL) including nine NFL Championships prior to the Super Bowl era and three Super Bowl victories in 1967 (Super Bowl I), 1968 (Super Bowl II) and 1997 (Super Bowl XXXI). The team has a fierce rivalry with the Chicago Bears, whom they have played in over 170 games. The Packers also share a historic rivalry with the Minnesota Vikings, who reside in the NFC North along with the Packers, and the Dallas Cowboys who have historically been known as the Packers largest playoff rivals after the Packers defeated them in the famous Ice Bowl.
For the latest news and schedule of the Packers see The Official Web Site of The Green Bay Packers
Bay Beach Amusement Park and Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary

Bay Beach Amusement Park is located along the bay of Green Bay on the city's east side. The park consists of approximately 45 acres with 16 rides, 7 shelters, a dance hall, rest rooms, picnic areas, and playground, softball and volleyball areas. For more information go to Bay Beach Amusement Park
Across the road is the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary. This is a beautiful 700-acre urban wildlife refuge. This is one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation sites in Wisconsin and Green Bay's largest city park. The Sanctuary is open to the public year 'round with no admission fee.
For more information go to Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary
Heritage Hill State Park

Heritage Hill State Park is a living history museum devoted to the preservation of its buildings and artifacts and the interpretation of the history of Northeast Wisconsin and its people. Through the unique experiences provided for visitors throughout the year, Heritage Hill has earned a reputation as a jewel of the Midwest for guests from within the area, and those visiting our community. For more information visit Hertiage Hill State Park
The National Railroad Museum

The National Railroad Museum dates to 1956. Local individuals advanced the concept of a national museum dedicated to the American rail road history. Two years later, a joint resolution of Congress recognized the Museum as the National Railroad Museum. The Museum has operated as a privately funded educational organization with a mission to foster an understanding of railroading and its significance to American Life. What began as an effort to acquire a single steam locomotive for a city park has grown into one of the largest rail museums in the nation. It now serves over 75,000 visitors annually. Today, a professional staff of 12 and over 100 unpaid staff members welcome visitors from all over the world. For more information visit National Railroad Museum
