Include your dog in your wedding ceremony
He's family, right?
Rex the ring-bearer?
It's not that crazy these days to include your dog or even your cat, in your wedding ceremony. From observer to active participant, dogs are getting their share of wedding invitations. As long as your dog obeys commands well, and isn't flustered by lots of people and noise, why not!
In a recent survey by Modern Dog, 18% of pet owners surveyed said that already have, or would include their dogs in the ceremony itself.
Be sure to confirm that your location will allow animals; most churches for example will not. Decide if you'll use a leash or not, then do some practice entry/exits in the actual building. For the traditional satin-pillow-holding-the-rings, simply sew a cushion on a dog harness (not a collar, it will slip down). Then securely fasten the rings (use fakes) and your dog's ready to go!

Hold a wedding FOR your dog and her fiance
Woof weddings became popular after Pamela Anderson, formerly of Baywatch fame, hosted a ceremony for her Golden Retriever 'Star' and her Chihuahua 'Luca' on the beach in Malibu California.
Now many designers offer wedding outfits and accessories for canines. The ceremonies don't come cheap though; Doggie I Do's, a Canadian company that coordinates "puptials" "for mutts in love," offers basic wedding packages for 25 guests starting around $4000. Wiskers Weddings can plan a wedding for anywhere between $400 and $10,000.No word yet on Doggie Divorce.. but it can't be far behind.

Celebrate your dog's birthday with a party
Pick a theme and carry it through from the invitations, to costumes, snacks and of course, the cake! (recipe below)You could go with Luau, Wild Wild West or feature any of the popular Disney characters.
Get matching paper plates and napkins for the table, and little loot bags for guests. One cute idea I read was to get children's plastic pails, and fill them with the loot (just keep them off the ground until it's time to go!)
And make sure your camera's ready.
Dog's Favourite Birthday Cake
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup soft butter
1/2 cup corn oil
1 jar baby food, meat, beef, strained
4 eggs
2 to 3 strips beef jerky
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour an 8x5x3 inch loaf pan. Cream butter until smooth. Add corn oil, baby food, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
Mix dry ingredients into beef mixture until batter is smooth. Crumble beef jerky and fold into batter. Pour batter into loaf pan. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes and then cool on wire rack for 15 minutes. Ice with plain yogurt or cottage cheese.
Store uneaten cake in refrigerator.
