How to build six pack abs is perhaps one of the most commonly asked questions by both men and women alike.
Of course a toned, flat stomach and rippling six pack abs are a highly desirable feature of anyones body but when trying to achieve six pack abdominals the majority of people always go about it in completely the wrong way.
People are continually fed misinformation and are led to believe that exercise (in particular doing hundreds of crunches and sit ups every day) is the key to getting six pack abs and while it is an important factor just as important is maintaining a healthy diet and nutrition.

Six Pack Abs Workouts
The Most Effective Exercises For Your Abs
Lay on the floor with your lower back flat against the ground. Put your hands beside your head and bring your knees up to a 45 degree angle and slowly go through a bicycle pedal motion with your legs as if riding an imaginary bicycle. For a more thorough workout touch your left elbow to your right knee then your right elbow to your left knee. Breath evenly throughout the exercise.
Exercise Ball Crunches
Sit on the exercise ball with your feet flat on the floor. Let the ball roll back slowly and lie back until your thighs and torso are parallel with the floor. Contract your abdominals raising your torso to no more than 45 degrees. To work the oblique muscles by place your feet closer together thus making the exercise less stable.
Leg Raises
This is one of the few abs exercises that involves using gym equipment or a bar. Start with your body raised and legs dangling and slowly lift your knees up and in towards your chest. The motion should be slow, controlled and deliberate as you bring your knees up and return them back to the starting position.

Encyclopedia Definition Of The Abdominal Muscle
The human abdomen (from the Latin word meaning "belly") is the part of the body between the pelvis and the thorax. Anatomically, the abdomen stretches from the thorax at the thoracic diaphragm to the pelvis at the pelvic brim. The pelvic brim stretches from the lumbosacral angle (the intervertebral disk between L5 and S1) to the pubic symphysis and is the edge of the pelvic inlet. The space above this inlet and under the thoracic diaphragm is termed the abdominal cavity. The boundary of the abdominal cavity is the abdominal wall in the front and the peritoneal surface at the rear.
Functionally, the human abdomen is where most of the alimentary tract is placed and so most of the absorption and digestion of food occurs here. The alimentary tract in the abdomen consists of the lower esophagus, the stomach, the duodenum, the jejunum, ileum, the cecum and the appendix, the ascending, transverse and descending colons, the sigmoid colon and the rectum. Other vital organs inside the abdomen include the liver, the kidneys, the pancreas and the spleen.
The abdominal wall is split into the posterior (back), lateral (sides) and anterior (front) walls.
