A Wonderful Place to Live
In 2006, 2208 and again in 2010, Money Magazine has listed O'Fallon among the top 100 places to live in America.
In 2002 my company had a reorganization and I was to move from Kansas City to the St. Louis area. My territory would be all of Missouri and some of Illinois, so I had the opportunity to choose where I would like to live in the St. Louis area. I grew up in St. Louis, so I had the advantage of knowing the various areas of the metro. After looking at the housing market, the access to transportation (both by car and plane) , and access to services, my husband and I decided to settle in O'Fallon in St. Charles county. Our children are grown, so education was not a concern, however O'Fallon does have an excellent school system too!
Now it is ten years later, I retired six years ago and we are very pleased with our decision to settle in O'Fallon. It has excellent healthcare facilities, some great parks, good restaurants, and lots of friendly people.
In this lens, I will show you a little about our town and some of what it has to offer.

Good Restaurants abound in O'Fallon
a meal for every palate

O'Fallon has just about any fast food or chain restaurant you can think of, but what I really enjoy is some o f the really unique places it has to offer. Here are four of our favorites.
McGurks Public House McGurks is located in old O'Fallon right on Main Street. You can see from the photo above that it has a seasoned appearance, when you enter McGurks you feel that you are stepping into a Irish Pub. Great food, good beer and an all round friendly atmosphere.
Stefanina's Pizzeria and Restaurant I particularly love their pizza, but they have good pasta and salads too!
Ethyl's Smokehouse and Salon. Ethyl's has been serving food since 1926 and people come from all over to enjoy the great smoked meats that they serve.
Bristol Seafood Restaurant This is my favorite place to dine for special occasions. They have a wonderful menu of seafood and great lobster bisque.

Fort Zumwalt Park
47 acre park

Fort Zumwalt is a popular place for a family outing. The 47.5 acre park has a lake, picnic area, playground and the historic Fort Zumwalt. At Christmas time it is decorated with thousands of lights and holiday figures. People line up for blocks to make their way through the park to see the light show.
I enjoy going to the park in different seasons to photograph the changing colors around the lake. The photo above was taken in early summer with the greenery reflecting on the lake.
Here is a view from the lake in the fall.

It is a very moving sight. There is also several plaques and an eternal flame. Several thousand people come each year to visit the memorial, which is open 24 hours and is free to the public.

- This was a lovely tribute to your home town. It sounds like my kind of place in a lot of ways except I enjoy my ethnic diversity. You have a sense of wonder as you travel through your life, you remind me to go through my own home town like I am a tourist on vacation. Angel blessed!

- My home town of Copper Harbor MI had a wagon just like that parked in front of the Old Country Store. Was the town named after someone named O'Fallon? When I was doing data entry for a medical device company, I would always get confused about whether to use the apostrophe or not. Beautiful pictures.
