67 Chevelle Introduction
The Chevrolet Chevelle (pronounced "shev-el") is a mid-sized automobile from Chevrolet debuting in 1964. It was produced from 1964 through 1977 and was one of General Motors' most successful cars. Chevelle models ranged from economical family cars to powerful coupes and convertibles. The Malibu, at first the top trim level in the Chevelle line, replaced the Chevelle name entirely after 1977. The Chevelle chassis (based on the reengineered GM A platform) provided the platform for the Chevrolet Monte Carlo, a very successful model itself.
The Chevelle was intended to compete with the similarly sized Ford Fairlane, and to return to the Chevrolet lineup a model similar in size and concept to the popular 1955-57 models. Early design photos show what would eventually be the Chevelle wearing Nova nameplates, the name then being used for the top trim level in the smaller Chevy II series. The Chevelle was the basis for the Beaumont, a re-trimmed model sold only in Canada by Pontiac dealers.
Four-door hardtop sedans, dubbed Sport Sedans, were available from 1966 though 1972. A two-door station wagon was available in 1964 and 1965 in the bottom-line Chevelle 300 series. Two-door hardtop coupes and convertibles were produced from 1964 to 1972, while four-door sedans and four-door wagons were offered throughout the entire run. Various models of wagons were sold with exclusive nameplates: Nomad, Nomad Custom (1968), Greenbrier, Concours, and Concours Estate. In line with other Chevrolet series, the two-door hardtops were called Sport Coupes.

Answer: yes if the engine is a chevy v8,
Question: Which car is a better investment; an original 65, 66 or 67 Chevy Chevelle Malibu non-SS convertible?
Answer: If the 1965 is a big block, thats the best investment. They did not make many big block convertibles in 1965. But you really can't go wrong with any of those years. Matching engine numbers and any documentation makes the car more investment worthy.
Question: Which is better, the '67 chevelle or the '70?
I've been trying to figure out which one to buy and I was wondering if when you answer if you could back up your answer of why
Answer: Personal taste. Both are great years.... actually all old Chevelles are great.
Question: True or False?i own '67 chevelle someone said that my ignition is wired wrong and that steps down to 6Vfrom12V
Is this true? it didnt seem right to me
Answer: The ONLY thing that runs at less than 12 volts is the ignition coil while the engine is running.
It's wired through a ballast resistor to reduce the operating voltage to 9 volts.
Question: I need some help trying to find a website that sells chassis/frames for a 67 chevelle?
Answer: It would help to know what you're really looking for. Is the frame damaged and in need of replacement? Or, are you looking for a subframe for racing purposes?
Question: Has anyone seen a '67-'69 chevelle with auto shifter on colume?
Answer: Thousands and thousands.
Standard equipment Chevelles came this way.
Question: Upgrading my 67 chevelle w/327 small block chevy?
i have a rebuilt 327 sm bl. 30 over. Rv cam. Edelbrock high flow intake. holley 750cfm. it purrs quite nicely but i think i could get a little more out of her but keep it reletivy at 10-15 mph. has a 2speed powerglide and i believe 3.80 rear end what would be a good setup. what is sad is i cant even get it to burnout and it already a 275hp. how can i fix that.
Answer: Put a 4:11 rear in it,that thing will be a rocket, also the power Glide 2 is a very good tranny,if you put a shift kit in it.A lot of people don't like the 2 speed power glide but with a kit it's un real.
Question: Were seat belts optional on the 1967 Chevy Chevelle SS?
I bought a 67 Chevelle SS 396 a few weeks ago. Now I want to register in NY, but the inspection requirements for NY State include a requirement for seatbelts in each seating position (Model years 1967 and 1968 - two front seat belts are required (driver position included), and one seat belt is required for each seating position elsewhere in the vehicle. )
My car has no seat belts. Were seat belts an option in 1967, or did someone remove them when the car was restored a few years ago and just not put them back?
Answer: Look under the car at the floor pan (or if you can raise the carpet). If there are unexplained holes in the floor pan in approximately the same location that seat belts may have been bolted down then there's your answer. GM left no open holes in the floor pans but they did bolt through the pan to anchor the belts so holes equals seat belts. I want to say that belts were required in 1967 but I'm not 100% sure. I have a 1967 Chevy ll Nova that does have belts....through bolted just like I said.
Question: How much should I offer for an old rusty chevelle?
I've seen this chevelle just rusting on the side of the road for a long time. It looks pretty beat up and I'm pretty sure the owner doesn't use/want it. I'm not sure of the year-maybe 67. It's orange with gray spots all over it and looks like it would need a lot of fixing up (which i don't mind). If i make an offer, how much should it be? How much is the car worth?
Answer: well talk to him, first find out if hes wanting to sell it, then askin about wuts wrong with it ask to check it out the figure wut its worth
Question: Two Chevelle's in Dukes of Hazzard?
I just watched the Dukes of Hazzard and at the beginning of the race I thought I saw a 69 or 70 Chevelle and then the General runs what looked like a 67 Chevelle into the ditch. Can any one settle this argument? 2 chevelles or one...... what year?
Answer: 2005 movie:
1967 Chevelle
1971 Chevelle
Question: Need some help decoding some Chevy Chevelle #'s?
I copied these various numbers down from my 67 Chevelle SS 396. I thought I'd be able to decode them with a book they had in Barnes & Noble, but looks like they sold it. I'm getting ready to put the car up for sale, so, I'd like to have as much info as possible.
From the Vehicle Identification Plate under the hood, on the firewall, I have the following (I realize the 138 indicates Super Sport Model) (ignore the periods, it was to preserve the layout)
010
ST . 67-13817 . . .ATL10668 . Body
TR.....747-7........................ C-C ...... Paint
........W-2M
....... Y-171942
On the engine block itself (in front of the passenger side exhaust manifold, just in front of and below the valve cover)there is the following:
T08I8IV.........8Y105325
On the fan housing, there is the following:
30928-1
Not sure which of those numbers are relevant, but any help you can provide in decoding all this info is appreciated.
Answer: The following link should be helpful. Just select 1967 on the bottom left and it gives you some options on decoding. http://hem.passagen.se/carlzon/chevelle/codepage/index.htm
