Tip 1 - Don't skip breakfast.



This is probably the most important tip of them all, there is this common misconception that if you skip breakfast you will lose more weight, this is totally untrue and has the complete opposite effect for the following reasons:

a) Later in the day you will be hungrier than normal and eat a bigger portion or more food than you would of than if you ate breakfast.

b) It slows your metabolism down, meaning that when you eat the next meal, your body will store any excess calories that it does not need as fat.

Another benefit of eating breakfast is, it speeds up your metabolism for the day meaning that any excess calories will not turn to fat and your body will actively aid your weight loss as muscle burns any fat over it faster.

Tip 2 - Don't undervalue the benefits of drinking water.



When you consider that the human body is made up of 55-60% of water, keeping hydrated is of the upmost importance when trying to lose weight for the following reasons:

a) It keeps your body hydrated.

b) Will help suppress your appetite, some times when you think you are hungry, you are not, it's your body telling you that it needs fluids.

c) Clears toxins form your body, helping your body detox.

d) Helps your kidneys eliminate waste meaning that stored fat will be metabolized.

An easy way to know if you are hydrated or not is to look at the colour of your urine when you go to the loo, it should be crystal clear if you are hydrated, if not it will be darker and yellow or even orange which means you are very dyhydrated, i know its a bit yucky but its very true.

Tip 3 - Eat More Fibre In Your Diet



Fibre is an important part of your diet for health reasons and adding fibre to your diet has the following benefits:

a) This will keep you regular and help stop constipation.

b) It will aid food digestion.

c) Makes you feel fuller

d) Has very few calories and generally aids weight loss.

Tip 4 - Keep a food diary for a week.



Make a note of everything your eat and drink (including any alcohol) and the times that you consume it, after a week you should have a very good idea about your eating habits.

Some of the things that you can do with the information that you have colated and will help you eat healthier are:

a) If you eat chips on a regular basis then try to find alternative healthy options to foods that are unhealthy - eg.eat pretzels instead of chips.

b) If you snack on unhealthy or high fat foods then try to eat fruit instead, fruit has very few calories compared to most other foods.

c) Find a lower calorie alternative to the alcohol you drink, for example wine has few calories than lager or beer, or just cut back the amount.

d) If you eat meat then try to eat leaner meats with less fat on, one of the worst types of meat are processed meats such as packaged meats, so try to eat freshly cut meats but cut any excess fat off.

e) If you find yourself eating a lot of carbohydrates then replace some of them with protein rich foods such as lean meats, fish and eggs.

f) Diary products ar very high in fat, so for example with milk, you could try to get a lower fat variety, you will get used to the taste and start to enjoy it.

Tip 5 - Try not to eat up to two hours before bed.



The reason for this is that your body is still digesting the food, your body typically takes about 2-3 to digest a meal, if you go to sleep at the beginning of this process your body will store the food as fat and that's the last thing you want.

Tip 6 - Never go food shopping when you are hungry.



The reasons for this are:

a) You will end up buying way to much food.

b) You will probably make impulse buys that you really dont need.

c) When you get home you probably will eat more than you should or would of.

Tip 7 - Stop Drinking Carbohydrated Drinks.



Carbohydrated drinks are very high in sugar both diet and regular, it will stop your bloating and take inches of your waist.
