Too Many Zeros: Not Enough Money

Seven Hundred Billion Dollars ($700,000,000,000) is a lot of zeros.

What can this much money do for each resident in the United States?

Let's see.

If we divide the $700,000,000,000 by 400,000,000 residents (the number of residents in the United States) we get

$1,750 per U.S. Resident

Here's another way of looking at it.

If we divide $700,000,000,000 by 1,250,0000 predicted foreclosures we get

$560,000 per foreclosure.

President Bush said that the average foreclosure costs $250,000.

Let's see what this means. If we take the $560,000 from the bailout and subtract the $250,000 cost of the foreclosure we get

$310,000 unaccounted for with each foreclosure.

What could $700,000,000,000 do?

dave rogers says:

Of course you save the bankers... if you give the money to people, it would be welfare.

I keep wanting to ask "are we there yet" because of this odd feeling I have that I'm being taken for a ride.

How about you?

Yuly says:

Ekun says:

Just wanted to say that were would you invest 700, 000, 000, 000 dollars you think that a bank could invest that and turn it into trillons? Your crazu

yippee says:

Do not bail out wall street.

TheGreenerMe says:

Based on what's been going on no! AIG's luxury spa vacation while the bailout was occurring is a big indication they aren't serious about making changes. The economy so far hasn't changed from the bailouts, it's benefiting a select few.

sandyspider says:

The bail out so far hasn't help us stock owners. Banks are still tight with loans. So far some of the money has already gone in the wrong direction. Greed only produces more greed!
