Crazy, Fun, And Somewhat Wild 70's Disco Costumes

Dress up to express yourself

It isn't just about Halloween; we really dress up in order to vent and express oneself. Having an occasion like Halloween is really just an excuse to express yourself, through fashion. And so, when you think of things like outrageous and exaggerated 70's disco era costumes and outfits, you can't really decouple those images from the era that's being represented. All of the good things about the era, and all of the bad things as well will be conjured up, and those are things, ideas, that you're really invoking when you dress up this way.

Play with fire - without committing

And it's fun, it's a great way to sort of play with fire, in that you can be a disco dancer or goer or what have you, for a short period, without having to commit. And that's the best part about these disco costumes; you don't have to commit; you don't even have to particularly care for disco music or disco tech culture on the whole.

It's kind of like you're able to play with the ideas that surround all of notions and feelings and sentiments that are instigated by the sheer word, "disco." It's interesting to reflect on things like this, because it seems like the calendar year is only growing more crowded with events and occasions, holidays and such, that give us an excuse to dress up in wild and outrageous ways.

There must be some sort of sociological or scientific explanation for this trend, but it's sort of obvious to young and middle aged adults today. Of course there's Halloween, but more and more New Year's Eve is turning into something more along the lines of Mardi Gras than anything else.

Other Excuses To Dress Up In 70's Disco Costumes

Get GroovyThere's also the Irish holidays, and Cinco de Mayo that's celebrated in the States. All of these occasions are pretty much excuses to dress up in crazy disco costumes, and to be crazy, at least temporarily. Of course, if you're putting on the costume day in, day out, this may be a bit more than an 'excuse to party' that you're facing.

And what's more, if you want to buy some of these things on a whim, you could quite easily find the stores on the web, in order to get the exact outfit that you want. There are so many of these outfits out there, you really just have to take your pick. Of course, you're going to get a bit of a spread in the sense that disco costumes are more authentic than others; you're going to get a spread in quality, and you're going to get a spread in inventory as well. You have to try to keep that in mind while you're shopping around, hopping from vendor to vendor, merchant to merchant.
