This lens (page) puts together a listing of some of the 70's sexiest TV actresses (although some had worked on the big screen too), many whom were top pin up queens of that decade.

Loni Anderson; WKRP in Cincinnati
Jennifer Marlowe a smart blonde bombshell

Buxom blonde Loni Anderson's TV career began in the 70's with roles in series like, "S.W.A.T", "Police Woman", and "Barnaby Jones".
But her breakout role, was as "Jennifer Marlowe", the intelligent sexy receptionist at "WKRP in Cincinnati" from 1978 to 82. Her work on the series earned her two Emmy nominations.
Once the series ended, there was no shortage of work for Loni. She played Jayne Mansfield in a TV biography, "The Jayne Mansfield Story" co starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. She also played Thelma Todd in a TV biography, "White Hot, The Mysterious Murder of Thelma Todd".
Along side Farrah, Lynda Carter, Suzanne Somers, Loni also tried her hand at becoming a poster queen, with several nice bikini poses.

Adrienne Barbeau; Maude's Carol Traynor
From Maude to Swamp Thing--There Are Worse Things She Could Do

Her first taste of success came on Broadway as "Rizzo" in Grease. In 1972, she took on the role of Carol Traynor in the series "Maude" starring the late Bea Arthur. She would make guest appearances on 70's series like "The Love Boat", "Fantasy Island" and more. She had a cheesecake pinup poster in 1978 that was popular (the pose can be found on the cover of her autobiography "There Are Worse Things I Could Do".).
Her career moved from TV to the big screen in the 1980's, becoming an "80's Scream Queen" by working in such films as, "The Fog" ( directed by her then husband, John Carpenter) "Swamp Thing", Creepshow" and others.
Adrienne is still a busy actress today working on both the big and small screens.

Catherine Bach; Hazzard County Beauty
She's just a good ole girl

Her first movie appearance was as a murder victim in a 1973 movie called "The Midnight Man". She would play "Melody" in the movie "Thunderbold and Lightfoot".
But, it was as Daisy Duke in the hit series, "The Dukes of Hazzard" beginning in 1979 that brought Catherine her biggest success. At the audition for Daisy, Catherine asked to bring in her own costume, which consisted of a t-shirt and a pair of ragged cut off jeans, now known as "Daisy Dukes".
She is currently working on the daytime soap, "The Young and the Restless" as Anita Lawson.

Susan Anton; the Golden Girl
Actress and Singer

In 1970 she won the role as the spokesperson for Murial Cigars and then later she would become spokesperson for Serta. In 1978, ABC gave her and Mel Tillis a summer variety series, "Mel And Susan, Together", the show was canceled after just four weeks, but Susan had made an impression on all the right people. She was voted by Time Magazine as one of the most "promising stars of 1979".
She was given a staring role in a series called "Cliffhangers" in 1979. She also made a big screen film in 1979, called "Golden Girl", but it failed at the box office. But, that didnt' slow Susan down, she kept on working as an actress and singer and continues in both of those roles.

Joanna Cameron 70's Saturday Morning Super Heroine
The Secrets of Isis

While in college in 1969, her friend Linda Hope, daughter of Bob Hope, introduced her to her father and he cast her in his film, "How To Commit Marriage". After that she got bit parts in a variety of 70's TV shows and finally in 1975 she was cast as "Andrea Thomas" a high school science teacher on the Saturday live action kids show "The Secrets of Isis". The show ran for two seasons.
After the show ended she did some work in other TV shows, but focused most of her time in marketing for various hotels and working in the home health care area.

Lynda Carter: 70's TV Wonder Woman
But not the first 70's TV Wonder Woman!

Lynda's first taste of being in the public spotlight was as a singer in high school, then at 17, she joined with two of her cousins and formed a band called "The Relatives".
She then went to college but dropped out after a short time with the desire to pursue a singing career which didn't take off. Her acting career didn't have much pep either, but she did manage to get small parts in series like, "Matt Helm" and "Starsky and Hutch". When she was almost ready to move back home to her native Arizona, the series "Wonder Woman" came to her and she gained "overnight" success. The series ran for three years, beginning in 1975 as just a series of movie specials and then finally becoming a full fledged series that lasted till 1979 with the show never officially being canceled but simply pulled from the network schedule.
Lynda also became a poster girl with several poses produced by Pro Arts, the company responsible for giving us the famous Farrah pose. Lynda's belly button pose (image found on the back of her debut album "Portrait" in 1978) was a best selling poster in 1978 for Pro Arts.

Charo; the The Cuchi Cuchi Girl

Charo's first US appearance was in the 1960's on the "Today Show". She was also sometimes seen on "Rowan and Martin's Laugh In".
But it was in the 70's that she became widely know for her guitar playing and her catch phrase "cuchi cuchi".
She did appearances on shows like, "The Love Boat", "Chico and The Man", "Ironside" and even in 1976, she had an unsold pilot episode of a series called, "Charo and the Sergeant". She also became a poster queen by having her own Pro Arts poster.
Nothing seems to slow our "cuchi cuchi" girl down, she continues to keep busy with her career.

Cathy Lee is a successful actress, author, producer. In the 70's she guest starred in a variety of 70's popular shows such as "Cannon", "Barnaby Jones", "Emergency" and more.
In 1974, she starred in the successful TV movie "Wonder Woman" a year before Lynda Carter took up the role. Cathy's version of Wonder Woman has become a campy cult classic.

Phylis Davis
Beatrice Travis on Vega$

Phyllis' career started officially in the late 60's having roles in films like "Lord Love A Duck" and co starring with Elvis in "Spinout".
She moved into the 70's doing appearances in shows like, "The Odd Couple", "The Streets of San Francisco", but her claim to fame came to her as "Beatrice Travis" former showgirl and single mom who worked for Dan Tanna on the series "Vega$". She played Beatrice for 64 episodes beginning in 1978 and lasting until 1981. After she left the series she made guest appearances on other shows, too.
Phyllis still acts but on a limited basis.
Angie Dickinson
Journalism's Loss is TV's Gain!

Even though Angie's career in show business began in the 1950's with bit parts on various TV shows and in big screen films, her career got a big boost in the 70's by her work in the police drama, "Police Woman" as "Sergeant Suzanne "Pepper" Anderson". This was a ground breaking series as it showed a woman in a lead role and as a police officer at that. This show opened the way for other female led series, like "The Bionic Woman" and "Charlie's Angels".
In 1999, Playboy Magazine listed Angie as # 42 on their "100 Sexiest Stars of the Century" list. In 2002, TV Guide ranked her #3 on their "50 Sexiest TV Stars of All Time". Not bad for a woman who once considered a career in journalism.
Farrah Fawcett: Golden Angel
R.I.P. Farrah June 9, 2009

Farrah's career started in the 1960's with a guest appearance on "I Dream of Jeannie", she would make other appearances on 60's TV shows and started the decade of the 70's with a role in the big screen film, "Myra Breckinridge".
She won a reoccuring role on the series, "Harry O" as "Sue Ingham" but, it was her famous bathing suit pose produced by Pro Arts that brought her into the public eye, that and the role of "Jill Monroe" on the successful series, "Charlie's Angels". She left the series after one season and attempted to get a big screen career started, but success there wasn't easy to achieve.
In 1984, she was finally taken seriously as an actress when she gave a wonderful performance in a TV movie called "the Burning Bed", it was finally discovered that she was more than just eye candy.
Sadly, Farrah passed away in June of 2009 from intestinal cancer.

Erin Gray: Buck Rogers Colonel Wilma Deering
TV's first female colonel!

Her modeling career began at age 15 , but TV viewers got their first glimpse of this beautiful lady when she did numerous commercials for products like Camay Soap, Breck, RC Cola and more and it wasn't long until she was making guest appearances in TV shows like, "Police Story" and the short lived "Gibbsville".
In 1978 she was given a role in the "Evening in Byzantium" which lead to her getting the series "Buck Rogers in The 25th Century", where she played TV's first female Colonel, Wilma Deering.

Deidre Hall
Saturday Morning's Electra Woman

Deidre may be best known for her role as "Dr. Marlena Evans" on the soap "Days of Our Lives", a role she took on 1976. But, prior to that, she has guest spots in a variety of 70's TV series like, "Adam 12", "Columbo" and, "Kung Fu".
But, you might have a 70's Saturday morning memory coming back to you, because Deidre was one half of the crime fighting duo, "Electra Woman and Dyna Girl" on the Krofft Super Show in 1976. The segments were about 12 minutes long and sadly lasted only 16 weeks before being pulled. Wow! I so wish that "The Krofft Super Show" would make it to DVD, I would love to watch these segments again, such wonderful campy fun.
Mariette Hartley: She is NOT James Garner's wife!

Mariette's career began on stage, but she eventually moved to films with her first role in the 1962 film "Ride the High Country" with western actors Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea. She did other work on TV and movies during the 60's, but her career really took off in the 70's when she started to do a series of commercials with James Garner advertising Polaroid instant cameras. So successful were they as a couple that it was rumored, falsely of course, that they were actually married in real life.
I remember Mariette from a Disney TV movie "The Mystery in Dracula's Castle" from the early 1970's. How so cool it would be if Disney would get off it's duff and start to release onto DVD some of their old TV movies.
She also won an Emmy for her work on "The Incredible Hulk episode, "Married" in 1978.
Pamela Hensley
Princess Ardala in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century

Pamela began her career in TV and movies in the early 70's getting work in popular TV series like Marcus Welby, M.D., Ironside, Rockford Files as well as roles in films like Doc Savage; Man of Bronze and Rollerball. .
There are probably two roles that most folks associate her with and that is as the evil scheming Princess Ardala on the 70's sci fi series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and the 80's TV series, Matt Houston . But after that series ended, it seems as though Pamela disappeared from the entertainment business and did reappear as an author in 2004 with a cookbook The Jewish-Sicilian Cookbook .
Kate Jackson; One of Charlie's lovely angels
Sabrina Duncan, the smart angel

She was the silent ghost, Daphne Harridge, on the daytime gothic soap, "Dark Shadows" from 1970-71. After her work in "Dark Shadows", she took roles in TV films like "Satan's School For Girls", "Killer Bees", "Death Scream". She also had roles in TV series like, "Bonanza", "Movin On", "The Jimmy Stewart Show".
But, it was being cast by Aaron Spelling in his series, "The Rookies" as "Jill Danko" that brought Kate to the attention of a larger audience. After the series ended, Kate was offered the role of "Sabrina Duncan" in another Spelling production called "Charlie's Angels" (Kate is responsible for coming up for the name of the series, it had been called "The Alley Cats" and networks passed it up, one can only wonder why!). Kate left the popular series after three seasons, citing it was time to try other things, but insiders say she was disheartened about having to turn down the lead role in "Kramer Vs. Kramer" a part that eventually went to Meryl Streep.
Kate would add directing and producing to her acting resume, producing TV movies from her own production company, "Shoot The Moon, Enterprises".

Maren Jensen: Battlestar Galactica's Athena

She studied theater arts for three years at UCLA and in college did a few plays. She then went on to become a successful model having had photo covers for magazines like Seventeen, Vogue and Cosmopolitan to just name a few.
Her biggest success as an actress was getting cast as "Athena" on "Battlestar Galactica" in 1978.
Maren gave up acting when she began suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, she has since recovered from the illness but still hasn't gotten back into acting
Jayne Kennedy

Jayne is an actress, model and sportscaster. She was the first African-American woman to be crowned Miss Ohio in 1970 and she went onto be one of the 10 finalists in the Miss USA pageant. She married struggling actor and writer Leon Isaac Kennedy and together they moved to Hollywood in 1978 to pursue entertainment careers.
Jayne did guest stints in many popular 70's shows like Shaft, Kojak, Sanford and Son, Starksy and Hutch, The Six Million Dollar Man . She also starred in a short lived series, Cover Girls playing a model who moonlighted as a secret agent.
Jayne also broke into the male dominated role of NFL sports to become the first female sportscaster on NFL Today.
Cheryl Ladd gains fame at Chris Monroe on Charlie's Angels

Cheryl came to Hollywood with the intention of starting a singing career and it seemed she was on her way, of sorts, when she was cast as the singing voice for "Melody Jones" on the Saturday morning cartoon series, "Josie and the Pussycats".
She soon started working in commercials and taking bit parts in series like "Happy Days" and "The Partridge Family" and more.
But, it was as, "Chris Monroe", Farrah Fawcett's replacement on the series, "Charlie's Angels" that propelled Cheryl into the spotlight and she became a pinup and poster favorite having several different poses on the market.
Cheryl hasn't slowed down one bit since her Charlie's Angels day as she continues to act.
Kimonos For Your Consideration
Audrey Landers
Singer, actress, producer

At the age of 12, Audrey penned a country song that actually got her a recording contract with Epic Records which eventually led her to making appearances on shows like "Merv Griffin". She then had a year's contract to star on the daytime drama, "The Secret Storm". More than just a pretty face, Audrey studied music at Julliard School in New York, while majoring in psychology at Columbia University.
Audrey did numerous guest appearances on 70's TV shows, among them "Emergency", "Happy Days", "Police Woman" and even a role in a very short-lived TV series called, "Highcliff Manor".
But, her biggest success came in the 1980's getting the role of "Afton Cooper" on the hit series, "Dallas".
Audry also has recorded 10 albums and has a successful music career in Europe and is the older sister of another 70's cheesecake queen, Judy Landers.
Judy Landers; younger sister to Audrey Landers
The Huggabug Club Creator!

Judy has made a career out of playing dimwitted blonds. One of her first TV appearances was on "Happy Days" as "Boom Boom" in the episode "Bye Bye Blackball". She would land an 11 episode stint on "Vega$", the Robert Urich series that ran 1977-81. Her next series would be in 1981, as "Stacks", in "BJ and The Bear".
Judy, is the younger sister of another 70's sexy lady, Audry Landers. Together, the sisters have worked on various projects, but one venture they are most proud of is "The Huggabug Club" a show aimed at children. The sisters created the show and wrote nearly 150 songs to be used on the episodes. The show has earned multiple awards such as "The Parent's Choice Award", and "The Dove Foundation Award".
Carol Lynley

Thanks to the reader who suggested adding Carol to the list. Carol's career began as a model and then moved into acting where she worked on Broadway in the 1960's.
In the 70's Carol was in the pilot episode of Kolchak; the Night Stalker and worked in various other TV movies and TV series of the decade such as Hawaii Five-O, Fantasy Island, Kojak, Charlie's Angels, Sword of Justice, The Love Boat and more
Pamela Sue Martin; 1970's TV Nancy Drew

Before being an actress, Pamela was a successful teen age model and while working as such, she heard about auditions for the film "To Find A Man" and won the role in the film. Based on the strong performance she gave in "To Find A Man", Irwin Allen cast her in "The Poseidon Adventure"
She would go on to do other roles on TV and the big screen, but in 1977, she was cast as "Nancy Drew" in the "The Hardy Boys Nancy Drew Mysteries". She would stay with the series for 21 episodes before leaving, reportedly, because she didn't like the idea of having the two shows combined during the second second.
She the went into the 80's starring on the night time soap "Dynasty" as the spoiled "Fallon Carrington".
Lee Meriwether; Betty Jones on Barnaby Jones
Former Miss America and Catwoman!

She won the title of Miss America in 1955 and began to do guest spots in a variety of 50's and 60's series. A popular misconception is that Lee portrayed "Catwoman" on the classic campy 60's "Batman" series, but in reality, she only played that role in the 1966 film "Batman; The Movie".
Starting in 1969, Lee replaced Barbara Bain in the series, "Mission Impossible" completing 8 episodes. But maybe, we remember Lee best for her role as "Betty Jones" on the series "Barnaby Jones" which ran from 1973 to 1980.
Lee continues to work and one of her most recent roles was as "Ruth Martin" on the daytime soap, "All My Children
Joanna Pettet
Stylish London Blonde

Her acting career started in the 1960's with work in a string of bad big screen films.
In the 1970's she made her mark on the small screen, starring in over a dozen made for TV movies such as, "Pioneer Woman", "A Cry In The Wilderness" and a most unusual movie called, "The Weekend Nun" in which she portrayed a novice nun who worked as a parole office during the week, and a nun on weekends.
Joanna's last film appearance was in 1990 and she has since retired from the entertainment business.

Stephanie Powers
Shalon on The Six Million Dollar Man

She was just 15 when she was signed with Columbia Pictures who considered her one of the brightest of the up and coming stars but her career in films was short lived as she decided to take time off. The absence from movies would last for five years and when she decided to get back into the entertainment field, she focused most of her attention on the small screen taking on the role of "the Girl From U.N.C.L.E." which lasted for a season in 1967. Once the series ended she would still continue to act and made numerous guest appearances on 70's TV series, like, "the Mod Squad", "Banacek", "The Rookies" and "Harry O" among others.
In 1976, she would star in a series called "Feather and The Father Gang" which lasted for 14 episodes. She also did a turn on the "Six Million Dollar Man", and "The Bionic Woman" playing "Shalon", a space traveler.
Catherine Schell; Maya from Space 1999

Katherina Freiin Schell von Bauschlott better know to American and British audiences as Catherine Schell graced our TV screens in the classic 70's sci fi series Space 1999 that ran from 1975-77. Catherine joined the cast as Maya in the second series. She was from the planet Psychon and she had the ability to morph into any life form but can only stay in that state for less than an hour. She was my favorite character because she added a sort of "superhero" mentality to the show.
Jaclyn Smith; Charlie's loveliest angel

She originally aspired to be a famous ballerina, but she soon found her attention shifting to modeling when she starred in a TV ad advertising Breck Shampoo in 1971. A few years later, she would be seen on commercials advertising "Wella Balsam" Shampoo.
She would have bit parts in a variety of 70's TV series, like "The Partridge Family", "McCloud", "Switch" and more. In 1976, she was offered the role of Kelly Garrett in a made for TV movie, "Charlie's Angels". The movie was a ratings success and the rest is history, as they say. "Charlie's Angels" would run for five seasons and has become Jaclyn's most famous role.
She still acts on occasion and has a successful line of clothing found at K-Mart stores
Suzanne Somers; Chrissy Snow on Three's Company
American Graffiti's beautiful blond in the Thunderbird

Suzanne's career began in the late 60's, and you might just remember her from the 1973 film, "American Graffiti" as the mysterious and beautiful blond in the T-Bird.
She continued to get small roles in TV series like, "The Rockford Files", "Lotsa Luck", "One Day At A Time" and finally, her big break came, she was offered the role of blond air head, "Chrissy Snow" on the hit series, "Three's Company" co-starring the late John Ritter and Joyce DeWitt. She stayed with the series for four years, but at the beginning of the 5th season, she demanded a huge raise in salary that was refused by the producers. Her screen time was lessened to just 60 seconds per episode and she was finally released from her contract.
Suzanne was also a popular poster queen with a variety of poses on the market.
But, Suzanne is no dumb blond, she went on to write books, endorse health products (Thigh Master, anyone) and to do shows in Las Vegas before making it back to TV in several series.
Laurette Spang
Cassiopeia in the Battlestar Galactica

In 1972, Laurette signed a 7 year contract with Universal Studios which lead to her being able to make guest appearances on a variety of 70's shows, like "Lou Grant", "Charlie's Angels", "Adam 12" and more.
She was cast as "Cassiopeia" in the Battlestar Galactica TV movie, "Saga of a Star World" which was the pilot movie for the series which ran from 1978-79.
After the series ended, Laurette made appearances in other TV series, but in 1980, she married actor, John McCook, and in 1984 she retired from acting to begin a family.
Lindsay Wagner; The original Bionic Woman
And so much more!

Lindsay's first career choice was as a model, but she soon began to hate it as she felt like nothing more than a "piece of meat". She decided to give acting a try and she began to get parts in shows like, "Night Gallery", " The Bold Ones: The Lawyers" and "Marcus Welby, M.D". But, it was a guest starring role on the popular show, "The Six Million Dollar Man", that would make Lindsay into a TV star. As Jamie Sommers, the high school sweetheart of Steve Austin, she won many hearts and when her character died on that series, the outcry was so huge that the network agreed to "bring her back to life" (her character hadn't really died, just gone comatose) and give her her own show, "the Bionic Woman" which ran from 1976-78.
Lindsay would go on to become labeled the "queen of the made for TV movies" for her work in a variety of entertaining movies from the 70's onward.

Carol Wayne
Johnny Carson's Matinee Lady

Carol's career began in the 1964 with a guest appearance on "Bewitched" in 1964 and she made appearances on many popular shows of the 60's. But her most popular role was as "The Matinee Lady" on "The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson". She played opposite Johnny's "Art Fern" who would often make jokes about Carol's ample bosom. She would do over 100 skits with Johnny.
She would make guest appearances on many of the 70's most popular shows, too, such as "Emergency", "Mannix", "The Bold Ones", and more.
Sadly, while vacationing in Mexico in 1985, Carol drowned after having gone for a walk on the beach, at first her death was labeled as suspicious, but later changed to accidental drowning.
