It's a 70th Birthday!

The 70th birthday is a big one! Actually, any birthday ending in 0 is a big one, and the 70th birthday is no exception.

Whether you are celebrating for yourself, your parents or someone special in your life, you want to make it a big deal. Of course, in my mind, it should be the bigger the better.

Here you will find a great selection of 70th birthday cards, with fun ways and unique ideas to celebrate. From understanding what a 70 year old might be experiencing to party ideas. Keep reading for a page chock full of ideas!

What Does Turning 70 Mean?

A milestone year

So 70 is finally the decade where it's time to focus on the "golden years." Now you plan to use whatever years are left to accomplish the important things you've always wanted to do. For some, it's planting a garden, or growing something new. Others might want to do a bit of travel - it's now or never. Existing hobbies become more important, as well as establishing new hobbies.

Health concerns are very real. Those aches and pains are more pronounced. However, it's also a time for thanksgiving, for appreciating the good things in your life. Relationships with your family, friends and neighbors are precious. Your gift of faith is something to treasure. And your remaining health - someone is always in worse shape than you.

Sending a birthday card for someone on their 70th birthday can reflect any or all of those interests. They can be humorous or serious, fun and girly, or reflecting general masculine interests.

Celebration of the 70th Birthday

Through the years theme

With a quiet family celebration, or a larger birthday party, these ideas are equally good to make the 70th birthday a memorable day.

"Through the Years" is a good theme for celebrating a 70th birthday. Guests will bring a copy of a picture of the honoree, with a short written description of that event or memory. Display these around the room, so people can walk around and look at them. Later, you can put them in a photo album or memory box to display.

Inexpensive Gift Ideas for the 70th Birthday

Celebrate simply

Keep the theme of 70 going by asking guests to bring a simple collection or item with the number 70. Ideas can include a bag of 70 M & M's with the honoree's favorite colors.

How about a bouquet of 70 flowers? Sound like a lot of flowers? Start with a dozen, and add the baby's breath around. One sprig could count for a dozen flowers!

Consider a bottle of wine with a vintage year ending in '70, or add your own wine label for a 70th birthday! (Pictured below)

Are jelly beans a favorite food, or Hershey's hugs and kisses (that's a good idea from the grandchildren.)

How about a few going together for 70 lottery tickets, or just one ticket that has the number 70 in it?

These ideas can be a great jumping off point for you to come up with your own ideas for something 70!

I wish my parents had lived till 70. They both died within the last 3 years. I know that it really tragic and I am trying my best to get over it but I can't really do it quickly because I love them so much. They were the best parents in the world. When I see the picture of Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus it reminds me of them and how they loved me when I was a baby. If anyone's parents are still alive I recommend you visit them and spend some time to get to know because most parents love their kids to do this, even if they don't admit it.
