Arkansas Centennial First Day Covers, A Selection of Different Cachets.
The United States post office honored the state of Arkansas with a commemorative stamp issued in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 16 of 1936.
Various stamp clubs, individuals, stamp dealers and other entrepreneurs created printed cachets to memorialize the event. These first day covers are collectibles today.
This lens displays many of the common and less common cachets published, but by no means is an attempt to be complete.
Any and all of the covers displayed are available for sale.
ETN Covers offers a wide range of Philatelic covers in my eBay store. ETN Covers
I encourage you to visit.
For this lens I will post the cachets I have and identify the cachet maker and their catalog number. Since these are all the same stamp they have the same base number, 782. The second number is the so called Planty number.
The current Planty catalog is 28 volumes and covers only those first days created in the 1930's. What's nice about it is it provides photos of all the cachets, and identifies the publisher/Artist of the great majority of such covers. It also is the primary price guide for material in this era.
I hope you enjoy touring through these. First day cover collecting is a great hobby. You can find an great deal of material right here on the internet.
At the bottom is a guest book. Please add any comments you might have about this page there. Thanks etn
