Stewardardship
Stewardship in a Christian context refers to the responsibility that Christians have in maintaining and using wisely the gifts that God has bestowed, including the environment.
An example of stewardship is in Genesis 2:15. "And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it."
Stewardship is fundamentally the work of the Spirit in our lives. When we accept our lives as sheer gifts, the Spirit can use us as instruments for spreading the Gospel. Where the Spirit works, there is joy. Good stewards are always the joyful bearers of the Good News of salvation.
Therefore, when we partner with God in keeping his world healthy and our values pure in the consumption of his valuable resources, we will be forever provided for and eternally blessed. This understanding is so important when it comes to our finances.
Principle #1 - Time
Time has long been a major subject of philosophy, art, poetry, and science. Though dictionaries present some definitions of time, it is difficult to provide an uncontroversial definition because there are widely divergent views about its meaning. In relation to Stewardship the giving of time is such a valuable component. At one point or another we have all been the beneficiaries of someone giving us their time.
The Bible provides the greatest example in Jesus and his teachings. Because he loved us so, he gave countless hours for the betterment of the world. Many of us are blessed to have been raised by or mentored by responsible people in our society that had a firm understanding of finances.
The giving of time is so important in cultivating a society that is fiscally responsible for people who learn grow into the givers in society instead of the takers. In doing so, we ensure the success of many generations of children that will be raised with God's blessings in a nurturing and spiritually blessed world.
Principle #2 - Talent
Talent can be defined in many wasy including the capability to do something or the results of our efforts. In most cases it is a possession of skills, experiences delivered through the manifestations of our basic tendencies. In other words God has blessed us all with gifts that are intrinsic to us. We all have talents. There are different aspects of talent and as spiritual beings, we need to define what the role and the functions are in the world in need of our talents, then determine what skills are necessary to educate others and do so accordingly.
God will smile on a world where his children help one another and this principle is a firm foundation of Stewardship.
Principle #3 - Treasure
Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount: "Where your treasure is there will your heart be also." In other words, be mindful of what it is that you seek for you will become it.If you accumulate earthly things, don't expect to fly up to heaven with them. You will just come as you are. Don't count on entering the kingdom of heaven with material items.
But if you accumulate heavenly things-that is to say, acts of love-you can expect them to be waiting for you when you arrive. Therefore, be open to sharing your material with others in a responsible, controlled atmosphere.
When you do so you are acting directly in line with God's beautiful plan for your life and you will be contributing to a better world in the process.
Principle #4 - Temple
When we act in a manner that is devoid of self-care, in essence we sabotage ourselves. Learning to honour ourselves and by believing that we have deep worth and value helps us to take care of ourselves in line with God's plan for each of us.Self-care is the path to ultimate fulfillment and the utilization of any forein substance that takes us off the path is simply irresponsible.
By embracing true methods of self-care, our intelligence and creativity is heightened. With this new insight is in important that we pass this information on halp to develop it in others.
Principle #5 - Relationship
The essence of the covenant or relationship between God and man is "I will be your God, and you will be My people." The relationship in keeping God's commandments perfectly was ultimately and consummately fulfilled by Christ, God in the flesh. An understanding of the covenant is central to this principle of relationship. All things co-exist intimately according to the Lord's plan for us and understanding this parallel existence is crucial to the Cross pollinization of ideas, intentions, resources and beliefs.
God's intention was for all of his children to live in community under his covenant was delivered by Jesus. You see Jesus was the greatest example of our intimate relationship with God by teaching us how to live in harmony and in doing so we will be eternally blessed.
Principle #6 - Worship
When we incorporate Worship into our practice of Stewardship, we directly cement the relationship that we seek with our heavenly father. We personalize this shared space in which we directly tap into his divine plan for us. You see we move into generational Biblical teachings when we pass this principle on to others thus expanding the glory of God's Kingdom for generations to come.
To worship is to directly answer God's unwaivering love for us. His kingdom is never temporary when it comes to our well being and to be a good Steward of his word keeps us moving closer to him.
Principle #7 - Nature
Nature has played a an intricate role in shaping the spiritual and cultural development of mankind. Educating others on respecting Nature is vital to the continuum of beautiful mother earth. When we see the planet being challenged by consistently getting hotter the direct result of Global Warming, this is not in tandem with God's plan for us. In many cases some in our society have placed selfish personal agendas ahead of what is right for the planet.
Educating others on the principle of nurturing this beautiful world gives back to all of us and ensures the success of clean water and air for our children's children.
