One of the easiest and quickest ways to swap out the old with the new in interior design is through home accessories. They help you keep your decorating ideas fresh and new, without breaking the bank. Plus, there are a vast number of ways to keep your house on-par with interior design trends without spending a ton of cash.

Wall Art

Wall art can be expensive, but there are plenty of inexpensive ways to incorporate new colors into your decor without spending a bunch. Simple wall decor could include a canvas you painted an abstract design onto or a fabric wrapped canvas. Wall art can be used in any design: living room design ideas, kitchen designs, bedroom designs and more. You could also consider investing in some wall decals in hot, new colors.

New Paint

Another quick, inexpensive and easy way to add new color into your home: paint. You can choose to paint all of the walls, two of the walls or just a single accent wall. In interior design, color trends are commonly incorporated through simple changes in paint. Plus, the great thing about paint is that it can be swapped out on a regular basis and easily updates the look of your home for very little cash: a single gallon of paint typically runs for less than $25.

Accessories

Various home accessories, such as candle holders, charger plates, tea lights, table decor or statues, are easy ways to update your home decor and add a little color.

Throw Pillows

Much like wall art, you can make your own throw pillows to swap out as the color trends in interior design change from season to season. Case in point: you can pick up new fabric at your local craft store and sew a new cover to fit your existing pillow in a single day.

Floor Rug

Floor rugs are a bit pricier on the scale, though they're a great way to work new color trends into your living room design or bedroom design. If you enjoy changing out your rug often, you should consider reselling it online; especially if it is gently used. Then, you can use the money to purchase your next rug in the latest and greatest colors.

Repainting Existing Furniture

If you've got an antique hand-me-down chair or some other piece of furniture that you'd love to keep but aren't necessarily fond of the its current shade, consider painting it. You can paint wood or plastic furniture today using special spray paint that bonds to plastic, wood or metal. It's an easy way to update the color and look of various furniture.

This is an especially great idea for use outside on patio furniture. Over time, patio furniture can become worn and tattered. Consider spray painting them in the latest color trend. Plus, you can change the color every year to update your outdoor space.

New Lamps

Lamps are another inexpensive option for updating a home using color trends. Lamp shades are easily manipulated to reflect changing design ideas. Simply cover them in a new fabric or use a new trim. You can even swap out the bases on occasion or purchase a base that can be spray painted a different color as you desire.

Reupholstery

Perhaps the most expensive option, you can consider reupholstering a piece of furniture. This is ideal for smaller furnitures, such as dining chairs, an entryway bench or an arm chair; but could get costly with a large sofa.
