8 Zazzle Store Promotion Ideas to Help You Sell MORE STUFF and Build Up an Empire! :P

Ranked #7,043 in Arts & Design, #111,533 overall

8 ideas that help promote your stuff and lead to better sales on Zazzle!

This Lens will give you 8 awesome ideas how to better help you sell your t-shirts, mugs, posters, stamps and whatever else you've created on Zazzle. Whether new to Zazzle or an expert veteran, you may find something to help you get your name out there and make inventory move! I have done all these myself and I believe they have really helped me out. I've tried other things as well, but I like these 8 the best because they have done more for me than anything else. I have, of course, not tried Everything out there, but a lot of things I have. If you know of some amazing technique that I have not tried, please leave the link and any information about it you can in the guestbook, and I'll give them a shot! Also below is a Zazzle Store plexo, please add your store if you want! After each section there will also be a plexo list to add your own links related to that subject, if you know of something awesome that helps with that topic please add a link there!

Don't Forget Us - The ?rf Code and Referrals

Another Great Way To Make Money

Before we get onto the list of the 8 ideas on how to promote your store, don't forget that you don't have to promote just your store. You can promote other people's Zazzle products and earn money as well! Say you make a blog, and then go to Zazzle forums > Ideas To Promote Your Stuff section, and add a topic "Need Awesome Posters For My Blog!" People will add their posters that they want you to promote, and you in turn add pictures that link to their posters in your blog and add your ?rf code at the end of their URL. If somebody visits your blog and likes the poster, goes to that person's store and buys it, not only will they make money, but you will as well! Referrals are a great way to make some extra cash!

To find out your referral code, go to My Account > Associates and it will show you your unique ?rf code and how to place it on URLs.

Now, on with the list! =)

1. FaceBook

Start an Official FaceBook Fan Club

Start an Official FaceBook fan club for your Zazzle store and/or chain of stores. This is a great idea, because you can get a lot of people to like your store and any new products you post will show up in their stream. I personally have a fan club, if you want to check it out or get ideas. Like me, and if you have a FaceBook fan club i'll join yours =) The link to the fan club is in the next text module below.

To start your own fan club:
1. Click this link to take you to the start a fan club or group page. You must have a FaceBook account. This page will be separate from your profile page. Create FaceBook Fan Club
2. Start a fan club. Since you are the owner of the store, why not make it an official page? Select which you like more and click continue.
3. This will bring you the start of your page. Build it like any other FaceBook page. Put up a picture or logo for your profile pic, list information about your store, link it to Twitter if you have an account there, and whatever else you wish.
4. You now have a FaceBook fan club! Congratz!

Some Tips:
1. If you are having trouble finding the link to the page, Like the store, go to your profile and right click the link to the store in and choose copy link that appears in your updates section, "So and so (you) liked so and so (name of store fan club)."
2. Don't forget to let people see what it is you do! Upload pics of your artwork! I suggest one photo section for each design, or you could do groups of items. For instance, I had several animal and insect artwork but like only one or two of each specific kind of animal, so I just made an animals and insects section to house them all and to save space. One photo section per design or group of designs really helps keep it clean, allowing for faster browsing. Faster browsing keeps the customer's attention =)
3. Start a Twitter account or, if you have one, link it your fan club so all the updates you do in your fan club is uploaded to your Twitter stream. Keep people up to date!

2. Twitter

Start a Twitter Stream and Keep People Up To Date!

Twitter is an amazing tool for promoting your products. Each time you make a new product, tweet it! I suggest adding #zazzle in the tag somwhere, so anyone who happens to click it may see your tweet in the #zazzle stream. Feel free to add any more # tags you wish, if you think it will help people find your stuff easier!

Tips for Twitter
1. HootSuite An amazing site, you can link all your Twitter accounts, MySpace accounts, and more into one so you can update all your accounts at once! You add all your sites, select which ones you want to give an update/tweet on, and write it in a little box and click send, and bam! All are updated at once! Also has a link shrinker for sites with limited allowed characters.
2. You can also add a RSS feed to your Twitter account to your Squidoo Lens, called Twitter Follow. I have done one below to show you.
3. At the end of this Lens is another Twitter RSS feed, called Twitter Search. You can put one on your lens and have a key word and it will post any results from recent tweets that use that keyword.
4. Beyond that, there are many tools available to assist you on Twitter, and a very fine Squidoo Lens was produced listing them all. Check it out: at The Only Twitter Applications List You'll Ever Need.

3. Zazzle Forums

They Are Useful and Full of Friendly People

The Zazzle Forums can really help you in promotion and other areas. The main 2 to check out are Show and Tell and Ideas to Help Promote Your Stuff sections.

Show and Tell
Here people post the following, and you can too:
1. If you made a new design, post it here and show it off.
2. If you won an award, such as a TBA or Most Views or if you became a Pro Seller recently, let everyone know!
3. If you updated or changed your store, if you have a new store, or if you have a new product, you can post it and have people critique it and give helpful ideas.

People post their new stuff all the time, go back often to check your posts and theirs.

Ideas To Help Promote Your Stuff
Here people post a lot of helpful links and information that will help your products sell, such as, but not limited to:
1. People who ask for items for promotion purposes. They may be general in nature, such as Halloween products, wedding invitations, back to school products, animals, etc., or more specific, like striped keds shoes, etc. They may post it in their blog or twitter about it with their ?rf code attached, giving you free promotion and possible sales, and them possible referrals. It works out for the both of you!
2. Things they have created, from wanting you to join their fan club on FaceBook, following a stream on Twitter, or following a blog. Sometimes people create whole websites or blogs devoted to posting other peoples stuff, and you can add your stuff there.

4. Free Advertising Sites

Sites That Allow You To Post Ads For Your Art

Free advertising and classified sites such as Craigslist can be a great way to get people to find your store. Post a nice description of whats in your store, or about a specific product, add a picture or pictures, and a link that leads people to your shop. Like a free ad in the back of a newspaper, only more people may see it!

5. Squidoo

You're here now and you can make one too!

Squidoo pages, called Lenses, can really help you promote a group of products or specific products. Add a bunch of bells and whistles to keep people interested as they scroll down. Check out the Lenses I have made below (bottom of this page) to get ideas for your own, if you wish.

Some great modules you can add on are:
1. Zazzle Store Module - you can add this RSS feed of your store on your Squidoo Lens, and make it a general listing or a more specific listing. This is great because if you have something related to the Lens subject you can put this up and maybe people that go there will go to your store and buy something. For instance, in my Alice's Adventure In Wonderland Lens, I have listed off a history of the story, characters, productions of the story, and other things, but in between each text module I have put a Zazzle store module that shows off my Alice's Adventures In Wonderland products. Unfortunately, there is no control over the order the pictures appear in, it takes the newest first and goes from there. I have listed 2 examples of Zazzle store modules below, 1 General, 1 Specific.
2. Various RSS Feeds - Twitter and your Blog stream can be added to your lenses. You can modify the number of feeds shown, etc. You could also put in a general term, like baseball in a Lens about baseball, and only baseball related feeds will show.
3. Voting Plexos - voting plexos are a great way to get people to go to your Squidoo. People love free advertising, and will add to your list, and maybe even come back to check their ranking.
4. Pictures - People like picutres, as Squidoo so poignantly points out in Every module. They're right! Add many pictures to keep people scrolling down!
5. Polls - People like to give their opinions, so let them give it with a nice topic-specific poll. There's one at the end of this Lens, test it out!
6. YouTube RSS feed - post YouTube videos related to the subject of the page. See the example at the end of this Lens.
7. My Lenses - shows people the lenses you have created! See an example at the end of this Lens.
8. Guestbook - again, people love advertising, or maybe they just want to say hi =) Sign mine at the end of this Lens, thanks! =)

6. Blogs

Make a Blog and Blog About Your Creations!

Start a blog and update it when you make something new, have an idea for a product, change or add to existing product lines and other updates. You can even talk about your favorite products on Zazzle (other than your own), post a picture of it, link to the product, and add your ?rf code behind the URL. If somebody else likes the picture you posted, they may go there and buy that product, and, since you added your ?rf code behind the product, you will get a referral bonus! Blogs are a fantastic way to get the word out!

WordPress

Cool - if you have a website for it!

Wordpress is cool, as long as you don't use the free one to upload Zazzle stuff to. I learned that the hard way. About 6 months after starting a free WordPress blog it got deleted, with them citing that I was creating 'backlinks' to another website. I was posting single products using the little [W] link under the picture on the product page, using the tags from the product to make tags, and then just using the picture from that product page for the pic. It makes a nice little post, with a pic, a link to the product page, all the same tags you had for that product, and you could even add a description to it if you'd like. Unfortunately, it's against their rules to post products to Zazzle - so why have that little link under every single product, right? Because if you have a website/domain hosted somewhere you can get wordpress added to it, as long as you host it they don't care. I use Powweb for my website black-ogre.com, and they have a multitude of little tools and enhancements you can add to your site for free, including a wordpress plugin that was pretty easy to install. So now I have my wordpress back up and running, from my own website and domain, which means I can post whatever the heck I feel like now =)

If you want to see my wordpress blog hosted from my website, you can Check it out Here.

7. Top 100 Lists

Lists of Stores You Can Add Yours To

There are all kinds of ways to promote your site, but I really like these top 100 lists. You can add a banner to your store, blog, website, myspace, or where ever else you can add HTML. When people click the banner, they go to the top 100 site - this is called an In. You are ranked by the number of votes you get going In to the top 100 list from your banner id. The list then refreshes, usually a half an hour, and reranks the list. The more votes you have coming in, the higher up the list you will go. After you join, you will get code for either a text link or a banner (if the owner of the list made them), add this wherever you want the link to appear. Once in the store people can also click another store (or yours again to go back), this counts as an Out. Outs do not affect ranking.

8. MySpace

Teach an Old Dog New Tricks

Myspace is, well let's face it, ancient nowadays. But it never hurts to have more promotion. Make a page just for your store, add a bunch of pictures and links to your store. The cool thing about MySpace is is that you can add a ton of HTML to it and show off as much as you want. Adding friends seems to be a lot simpler nowadays as well, so more views for your page! It's worth a shot.

THE END - But Wait, There's More!

Here Is Some More Stuff To Help You Out

That's the end of the list, but there's a lot more out there to help you create and get better at what you do. Learn, learn, learn, you can always learn something new or use another site with public domain images, etc. Here are some more things, including public domain image sites, YouTube videos, and a place to add a link to your blog or site that is helpful to other Zazzlers.

YooLink

instant gratification!

YooLink is pretty cool. With it you can put a button up at the top of your browser (very small, i have mine next to my little homepage 'house') Then you can go to all your zazzle pages, click on the Yoolink button and instantly post your pages (or any other findings) to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Delicious. Great little advertising tool, here's how I use it:
1) I click one of my Zazzle categories
2) I then click the YooLink icon button at the top of my browser
3) I post it to everything
4) I then go on to the next category and start over again
